Friends of the Oakley Library is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

We raise funds through our memberships, our book sale area and donations. 100% of our donations are used to support programs for persons of all ages and abilities.

The Friends of the Oakley Library are excited to announce our participation in this year's Heart of Oakley Festival and really hope to see you there! 🫶🏼

The Heart of Oakley Festival is an annual event to celebrate our city, promote community building, support local businesses/ nonprofits, and provide safe family fun! This event is free to attend and open to all. 🤍

You may notice this event takes place the same day as our Barnes and Noble fundraiser! That just means we are working twice as hard to meet our community!! Please visit us at the festival and after at Barnes and Noble in Brentwood! (see other posts for more information on our Barnes and Noble fundraiser.)

The Friends of the Oakley Library are excited to invite you to participate in National Night Out!

📍3150 E. Cypress Road, Summer Lake Park
🗓️ Tuesday, August, 4th
⏰ 6:00pm-9:00pm

National Night Out is a wonderful community event that is designed to,
* Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
* Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts.
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.
* Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

We'll be there to expand our community outreach, provide updates on the New Library and Community Center project, and let folks know more about our upcoming event schedule.

Neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events ranging from small potlucks and BBQ’s to large block parties. Some additional event ideas include, but are not limited to, ice cream socials, disaster preparedness, games, contests, discussing neighborhood issues or setting neighborhood goals, food or clothing donations, plan a clean-up day, beautify a common area, discuss or plan a Neighborhood Watch Program.

Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day featuring:
🎨 40+ craft vendors and nonprofit organizations

🎶 Live music by the Evan Thomas Band
🍺 A beer garden hosted by the Rotary Club of Oakley

The Friends of the Oakley Library are proud to participate in the city of Oakley’s Juneteenth Ceremony.

Craft vendors and other non-profits will be open at 10:30am for the public to participate. The celebration will begin at 11:00am with performances, speakers, and more.

Everyone is welcome to participate and we hope to see you there!

The Friends of the Oakley Library is looking to fill a spot on its Board of Directors!
If you have been looking for a new way to give back to your community, this is a great opportunity to support the library. We are seeking a volunteer to serve as our Fundraising Chair for the nonprofit!

As Fundraising Chair, your responsibilities would include:
•researching fundraising opportunities (grants, business sponsorships, and individual donors)
•conducting email and phone outreach to potential funders
•brainstorming new funding sources
•working with the Friends Marketing/PR team on event planning,
•identifying and managing crowdfunding campaigns
•assisting with grant writing when needed

Whether you have a little time or a lot, we welcome your help as we work toward reaching our goals.

The Best of Oakley Reader’s Choice Awards is an annual competition in our community between businesses, non-profits, and service providers.
