A great turnout for Sunrise @ Sunset this month at August the Mansion. Each month we skip our morning meeting and enjoy a social evening with our Rotary friends at a local restaurant or bar. This week was special as we thanked Janet Reece and Greg Padula for their generous gift to our club. This money will support our work in the community and overseas. We also support other local charities by volunteering and donating some of the money we raise.

If you'd like to join us, just drop us a note or call.

We are in need of a host family for our newest exchange student, Mauro, from Brazil. He will be attending O'Fallon Township High School this coming fall as a Junior. If you are a family who would be interested in hosting an international student, please contact me, Dawn Cassil, or any Rotary Club of O'Fallon member for more information.

Why Host an Exchange Student?
Cultural Exchange: You get to learn about Brazilian traditions, food, and language firsthand.

New Perspectives: It often gives local families a "tourist's eye view" of their own town and culture.

Lifelong Connections: Many host families form bonds that last decades, leading to future visits abroad.

Quick Facts for Prospective Families
School: O'Fallon Township High School (OTHS).

Student: Mauro, a Junior from Brazil.

Timing: Starting this coming fall semester.

Support: The Rotary Club of O'Fallon provides a local coordinator and a network of support for both the student and the family.

We’re less than two weeks to Brews & Bags on Saturday, May 16th at the O’Fallon Community Park. It’s time to get those tickets as we start to set up co****le tournament brackets.

We’ll have live music by the Saloonatics and 32 local beers to taste in addition to the Co****le Tournament. Co****le will be in the Katy Cavins Center and Beer Tasting will be in the Pavilion so we’re ready for the unpredictable spring weather.

See our attached flyer and gather your friends or come make new ones. We look forward to seeing you!

Good morning O'Fallon! This morning we were joined by Kirsten Peterson, the Agency Director of Our Brother's Keeper (OBK) of Southern Illinois. OBK is a faith-inspired organization dedicated to the full inclusion of former individuals in custody (returning citizens) in the St. Clair County, Illinois community.

OBK gets between 20 and 40 new clients a month and assists them with peer counseling, life and employment skills training, and referrals to supportive services. They also take clothing and full-size personal hygiene product donations to help new clients get started on the right foot. OBK needs volunteers across several areas to keep the organization running if you're interested in helping.

Good morning O'Fallon! This morning we were joined by Rotary District 6060 Governor Ralph Zuke. Ralph is not only the Governor, but has ridden his bike to three Rotary Conventions to raise awareness for the End Polio Now campaign. His trips started in St Louis and led to Toronto, Houston, and Calgary. He has great tales of sharing the need to eradicate polio, meeting people from all walks of life, and getting donations from some unexpected places.

Rotary International started working to rid the world of polio in 1985, and we are so close to eliminating it. Only two countries still have endemic polio, but they are tough ones to work with. You can find out more about the fight to end Polio at https://www.endpolio.org. Thank you, Ralph, for the great stories!
