Updated radar loop at 3:30: A slow moving storm developing over Belleville, then more rain moving in from the west. Severe thunderstorm warning just north of O’Fallon.

3pm update: Severe thunderstorm warning just issued for St. Clair county does NOT cover O’Fallon at the moment. Pop storms are developing ahead of the another line of thunderstorms though.

Tornado Watch now in effect for the area until 10pm! A watch means all the ingredients are in place for severe weather and the possibility of tornados this evening. Stay weather aware tonight.
Remember O'Fallon turns on the weather alert sirens for a severe thunderstorm warning. That means a storm has wind gusts over 58mph (or hail greater than 1in in diameter). Those kinds of gusts can still cause damage. Use a weather radio or sign up for weather app alerts so you can know the difference between a severe thunderstorm warning and tornado warning.

More storms rolling in from the west already. At 9:45am they were about 85 miles west of O'Fallon. Stay weather aware this morning!

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for counties to the west of St. Louis this evening. Over the next 12, or so, hours we should see to rounds of strong to severe storms. The first round will hit between 8:00 and 10:00 tonight, and another round entering the area around 4:00 A.M.

7:00 A.M. -- We will be dry for the next several hours. Watching more storms that are working to the Northeast toward St. Louis. If the sun comes out, these could grow stronger.

Timing for those would be mid afternoon.
Another round of possibly severe storms could roll through the area early Saturday morning.
