🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate the Fourth of July and America’s 250th year, we reflect on the people and places that shaped our nation’s story.

Before the Van Riper House was built in 1788, the site it occupies witnessed troop movements during both the 1776 Retreat to Newark and the 1781 march to Yorktown, connecting this corner of Nutley to pivotal moments in the American Revolution.

Just a few years later, John Van Riper built the house that still stands today, creating a lasting legacy that has endured for more than two centuries. Today, the Van Riper House serves as a tangible link to our Revolutionary past and the generations that helped build our young nation.

From all of us at Van Riper House, Inc., we wish you a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day. As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, we remain committed to preserving and sharing Nutley’s rich history for generations to come.

Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, Van Riper House, Inc. honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. As America approaches its 250th anniversary, we reflect on the generations of sacrifice that have protected our freedoms from the Revolutionary era to the present day. At one of Nutley’s oldest surviving homes, we are reminded that history lives through remembrance. We wish all a meaningful Memorial Day as we honor those who gave all in defense of our country.
