The garage is not the the place forgotten things ๐Ÿค”

If your garage is so full you can't park your bike inside, let alone your car, it's time to clear out the clutter and make some space.

๐Ÿ“ข WEBINAR: Paint, Posts, and Planters โ€“ How to Advance Road Safety with Traffic Calming Quick-Builds ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿชด

High-speed, car-oriented roads can be transformed into safe, multimodal streets for all users by reducing lane widths, limiting long sight-lines, and adding visual friction... but these projects involve a long and expensive planning, approval, design, and construction process, which often triggers vocal opposition.

That's where quick-builds come in! A similar traffic-calming impact can be achieved with a temporary, low-cost installation consisting of paint, posts, and planters.

Join us to learn how to use quick-build demonstration projects to build community support for permanent solutions, featuring our Top ๐Ÿ”Ÿ Tips for quick-builds and success stories from Hartford, Connecticut and Mission, Montana (Flathead Indian Reservation)!

We won't leaf you hanging: Flower pots and trays (aka flats) do NOT go in the recycling. Some garden centers may take them back, but you'll need to ask before you donate. Splitting plants? ๐ŸŒฑ Be sure to disinfect all pots and trays you give away to make sure you don't pass along any invasives (like jumping worms and black swallow wort).

Take the guesswork out of recycling: Check RecycleSmartMA.org to see what goes in (and stays out of) your bin.

MA State Senate is doing something about waste and plastics. Will House of Representatives take the hand off and finish the job?

A broader $3.6 billion bond bill includes paint EPR, but no policy for batteries as the waste industry hoped. Meanwhile, it also seeks to limit plastic bags, provides funding for state waste projects and targets a select transfer station.

Your annual tax season reminder that shredded paper is "dreaded paper" at material recovery facilities. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The tiny pieces float around and can't be captured for recycling. And no, please don't bag it up and put it in your recycling, either! Trash or compost it.

Shredding events are the best way to recycle your documents. Check locally for events!

But seriously: When it comes to plastic recycling, focus on the shape, not the number. The ""chasing arrows"" do NOT indicate whether you can recycle an item!

Plastic bottles, jars, jugs, tubs, and clear deli containers = recyclable. โ™ป๏ธ Check our Smart Recycling Guide at RecycleSmartMA.org to find quick tips on what to put in your bin.
