Friends of St. Nick

Friends of St. Nick The Friends of St. We unashamedly borrowed the concept from our friends in Walpole, the “Friends” of St. Patrick and Christopher Columbus. Nick”.

Nick was founded in 1992 with the dual purpose of honoring those people who have served the town of Norwood well by their efforts, while at the same time, raising funds to support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. With each passing year, we hope to strengthen the ties that bind our groups together. In our twenty year history we have raised over $400,000 for the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Cancer Instit

ute through our luncheon, raffles, silent auction and donations. Norwood has many citizens who are deserving of recognition by our group. From the beginning the FOSN has tried to bring the best of both worlds. Honor those who serve the community and raise awareness and funding in the fight against cancer. Nick is committed to ringing in the holiday season with good friends, good cheer for a good cause. Anyone can be a “Friend of St. The membership requirements are simple. Simply join us each year as we pay tribute to those people who have contributed so much to the Town of Norwood. Raise a glass, sing a song or just lend a hand as we celebrate the season and support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Jimmy Fund.

The Friends of St. Nick are thrilled to announce Journey To Parenthood is our 2024 honoree! Started in 2013 by Norwood residents Jennifer Gay Conley and Colleen Dooley Brierley. JTP’s mission is to help couples and individuals dealing with infertility achieve their dreams of becoming parents. This is done by providing financial and emotional support combined with educational resources.

JTP has awarded close to $250,000 to couples who have been blessed with over twenty-five babies and counting. Each fall the foundation looks to award upwards of $10,000 to couples and/or individuals building families through advanced fertility treatments, surrogacy as well as adoption.

We look forward to celebrating Jen, Colleen, and all of JTP’s volunteers on December 13th!

Stay tuned for ticket information!

Six more sleeps! Parking Info for Friday!

Four Points by Sheraton Norwood has a new traffic pattern within their parking lot to accommodate for the ongoing construction of a next door building. The entrance off of Route 1 will remain open as an entrance and exit. Upon pulling in the parking lot from Route 1 and heading towards the Tiffany Ballroom there will be a one-way traffic signal directing traffic for a temporary basis during this phase of construction. This will allow for the safe movement of vehicles around the building with having one lane of moving traffic.

We recommend that if you are coming for Friends of St Nick, that you use the back entrance off of Pleasant Street through FM Global Way. This will give direct access to the Tiffany Ballroom parking lot.

We are pleased to announce our 2023 St. Nick Person of the Year: Bobby Conrad.
Bobby has been a fixture in the Norwood and Walpole communities since the early 90’s and has quietly shown so many people his incredible kindness and generosity.
It is instantly clear if you talk to Bobby that football is his passion. Bobby was a volunteer football coach for Norwood High School for over a decade before moving to Walpole and taking over as the President of the Youth Football program. He spent 15-years at the helm before taking over in his current role at Dover Sherborn High School. As important as the wins are on the field, Bobby makes sure the organizations are taken care of long-term helping with fundraising efforts and other off-field needs. Over the last decade he has donated over $25,000 to help stock the snack shacks in both towns.
When Bobby’s childhood friend passed, he honored his memory with the Brad Wheeler Golf Tournament starting in 1994. This raised over $50,000 and provided a scholarship to a senior football player at NHS. In 2003, Norwood mourned the passing of Danny Reen. Without hesitation and with the support of both Brad and Danny’s family the golf tournament was renamed in honor of Danny and raised over $125,000 from 2004-2019.
If someone places a call to Conrad’s Bobby will answer with whatever they need. He is a constant supporter of local charities, schools and families in need of assistance. Please join us and Bobbys three children, Zach Chase & Skylar in celebrating Bobby as our Person of the Year.
