Don’t underestimate winter hikes! The prep and logistics might be harder but the views through bare trees and the solitude are excellent.

Getting back at it in 2026! Did a First Day Hike with , exploring the Neponset River’s banks in Norwood with the .
And that’s a milestone: Norwood is the *one hundredth town* in Massachusetts that I’ve hiked for this project! Shoutout to the for their work on parts of the trail, the NEPRWA for hosting, and Bill for tagging along for the trek!

Today would have been Nina’s twelfth Ninaversary. She was always a more reluctant hiker than her large little brother, but enjoyed her time in the trees with me…when I wasn’t sticking a camera in her face.

Timehop tells me it was three years ago today I checked off the first of the four tripoints (the spot at which three states all meet). This one, CT-MA-RI, is accessible through Douglas State Park, but we approached it from the southwest and Connecticut’s Air Line State Park Trail. Nina and Arnold came along for the ride and were fully tuckered out by the time we got back to the car.

Just a few stills from my trip to Cuttyhunk last month. Great little spot for a seaside hike.

Halibut Point is one of the state’s smallest state parks, but it’s absolutely still worth your schlep - the views out over the Atlantic are incredible. These photos are unedited; look at that shade of blue.

The trail waits for nobody! Hauled myself out of bed this morning to participate in ’s First Day hike out in MA, at the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park. Arnold came along, and my dad joined too. Town #89 in the books!
You can see how Arnold is spending his post-hike time in the final photo.
