🚨 New Intakes Today! 🚨

We had new arrivals come through the doors today!

Think you can figure out what they are? πŸ‘€

If you saw one up close, you'd probably count more fingers than you expected.

Drop your guesses below! ⬇️

While you're guessing, please remember that intake season is still in full swing. Food, formula, medications, and supplies are disappearing as fast as they come in. Your donations truly make these rescues possible, and we appreciate every bit of support. ❀️

What's your guess?

βš‘πŸ›’ Amazon Prime Day: Help Us Help Them! πŸ›’βš‘

Meet one of our newest patients.

Last week, our founder watched this baby and its sibling climb a utility pole and come into contact with a transformer.

Both babies were electrocuted and thrown from the pole.

Sadly, the sibling did not survive.

This little one, however, is proving to be a fighter. Despite its injuries and the trauma it experienced, it is eating well, gaining strength, and letting us know exactly how it feels every chance it gets. Safe to say this baby is SPICY. 🌢️

Cases like this are why we do what we do. Every formula feeding, medication, enclosure, and supply is made possible because of your support.

πŸ›’ During Amazon Prime Day, consider checking out our wishlist and helping us stock up on much-needed supplies for the busy baby season.

If you could give this little survivor a nickname based on its personality, what would it be? Drop your best name below! ⬇️

We can't wait to see what you come up with! β€οΈπŸ¦πŸ¦¨πŸ¦ŠπŸΏοΈπŸ¦‡πŸ¦Œ

🌟 Make a Difference Monday 🌟

Meet Old 62.

This handsome guy came to us after being hit by a car. He spent the winter recovering with us and was successfully released this spring.

As much as I miss him, seeing animals return to the wild is always the goal.

Today, Old 62 is a reminder that one phone call, one transport, one volunteer, one donation, or one person willing to stop and help can completely change an animal's story.

So here's today's question:

❀️ How long have you been following Lakota Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation?

Tell us in the comments how long you've been here! Whether it's been a few days, a few months, or since the very beginning, we'd love to know.

And if you've been around awhile, what's one animal you've never forgotten?

Answer to yesterdays post!!

Fox fathers are actually among the more involved dads in the wild!

Red Fox dads help by:

Bringing food to the mother while she stays with the kits.

Delivering food directly to growing kits.

Guarding the den area from potential threats.

Teaching young foxes hunting and survival skills as they get older.

Continuing to support the family for months after the kits are born.

They're not necessarily the "best" dads in the animal kingdom some species like Emperor Penguin and Gray Wolf fathers are also famous for their dedication but fox dads definitely rank high for their involvement.

Looks like fatherhood is a full-time job in the fox world too!

Have you ever seen a fox family in the wild? Let us know below! ⬇️

We were tagged multiple times yesterday in a post about baby bats found on a sidewalk. We immediately reached out to the original poster, but unfortunately we didn't see the post until several hours later.

After speaking with the finder, we learned that the rehabbers they had contacted were unable to check things out. Our amazing sub-permittees, Kysha Corya-Maschino & Karen N Dave Corya, went to investigate.

What they found was heartbreaking.

Not two bats, but four. Two had already passed away, one was lethargic, and one was still active but severely dehydrated. The two surviving pups are now in our care and receiving the help they need.

Yesterday alone, Lakota Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation took in:
🦌 1 Fawn
πŸ¦‡ 2 Bat Pups
🦨 1 Skunk

And the calls just keep coming.

On top of these new intakes, we've been keeping a very close eye on Bindi. She experienced yet another seizure and has not been acting like herself since. Today we're making a 1Β½-hour one way trip to pick up supplies she needs. When our animals need something, we do everything we can to get it for them.

Please keep all of these little onesβ€”and especially Bindiβ€”in your thoughts and prayers. ❀️

We know we say it often, but it's the truth: none of this would be possible without your support. Gas, food, housing, medications, medical supplies, and veterinary care add up quickly, especially during baby season.

If you're able to help, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small, and every dollar makes a difference for the animals depending on us.

Thank you for continuing to stand beside us and these wild babies. We couldn't do this without you. ❀️

We are in need of everyone's help. Today we had 3 possibly another coming in. All of which are medial cases.

Please keep everyone in your thoughts & prayers.

Without the donations we could not do this. If you want to be the reason why we are able to continue taking intakes check out our linktree.
