We were tagged multiple times yesterday in a post about baby bats found on a sidewalk. We immediately reached out to the original poster, but unfortunately we didn't see the post until several hours later.
After speaking with the finder, we learned that the rehabbers they had contacted were unable to check things out. Our amazing sub-permittees, Kysha Corya-Maschino & Karen N Dave Corya, went to investigate.
What they found was heartbreaking.
Not two bats, but four. Two had already passed away, one was lethargic, and one was still active but severely dehydrated. The two surviving pups are now in our care and receiving the help they need.
Yesterday alone, Lakota Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation took in:
π¦ 1 Fawn
π¦ 2 Bat Pups
𦨠1 Skunk
And the calls just keep coming.
On top of these new intakes, we've been keeping a very close eye on Bindi. She experienced yet another seizure and has not been acting like herself since. Today we're making a 1Β½-hour one way trip to pick up supplies she needs. When our animals need something, we do everything we can to get it for them.
Please keep all of these little onesβand especially Bindiβin your thoughts and prayers. β€οΈ
We know we say it often, but it's the truth: none of this would be possible without your support. Gas, food, housing, medications, medical supplies, and veterinary care add up quickly, especially during baby season.
If you're able to help, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small, and every dollar makes a difference for the animals depending on us.
Thank you for continuing to stand beside us and these wild babies. We couldn't do this without you. β€οΈ
