One Audition Down, Two More Chances Left!

The Jennings County Players are getting ready for our next production, Badger by Don Zolidis, and we’d love to see you out for auditions! Set during World War II, it follows five women working in a munitions factory, balancing poignant, powerful moments with genuine humor as it explores their resilience and friendship. Seasoned director Sandra Eikleman is heading this beautifully written dramedy.

Casting Needs:

We are looking to cast a full ensemble of both men and women, ages teenage and up. While the story centers around the factory workers, a total of 9 women and 5 men are needed for the production. We encourage everyone to come out!

Audition Details:

- Friday: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

(Note: If you can't make any of those times, or if we need to do callbacks, we’re also holding an extra slot on Tuesday, June 2nd from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM).

Where:

Jennings County Public Library2375 IN-3, North Vernon, IN 47265(We'll be in either Conference Room 4 or 5)

To help us plan, please fill out the audition sign-up form here: https://forms.gle/NZ8zAKshfRqt9kpv6

What to expect:

We’ll be doing cold reads from the script with an audition panel, with no outside preparation required. However, if you prefer to look things over and prepare beforehand, feel free to email [email protected] and we'll gladly send you some rehearsal materials.

We will build and finalize the rehearsal schedule based on overall cast availability; you can list any conflicts when you sign up.

Performances are scheduled for September 18th & 19th at 7:00 PM and Sunday, September 20th at 2:00 PM.

Get ready for the next Jennings County Players production! We're thrilled to announce the upcoming show will be "Badger" by Don Zolidis.

Take part in this captivating ensemble drama set in 1944. Five young women take newly-available jobs at one of the largest munitions factories in the United States: the Badger Ordnance Works. Facing dangerous work with highly flammable powder as well as insidious sexism, the women form an unlikely friendship through joy and heartbreak.

A vibrant ensemble brings the factory to life as each of the women confronts not only the challenges of entering the workforce in the darkest days of World War II, but also who she is and what she truly values. These unforgettable human stories bring this historical era to life.

Keep an eye out for more information regarding auditions and show dates, to be released soon!

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR!

"I truly appreciate you coming to our production of The Women of Lockerbie. This is my directorial debut and working with this cast has been a true pleasure. My husband and I saw TWOL almost 2 years ago at the Brown County Playhouse. It was decided that night that this show had to be done by the Jennings County Players. The Women of Lockerbie received its world premiere in New York City on April 6, 2003. The play is done in the form of a Greek tragedy. Some of the lines might seem more poetic than conversational. There are many somber moments and a few lighthearted ones. Thanks so much for coming. I hope it moves you, as much as it has moved me and the cast."
- Kimberly

MEET THE CAST!!!

- Players’ veteran Shara Vernon joins our cast in the role of “Madeline Livingston.” She is Senior VP of Clinical Reimbursement for Exceptional Living Centers. When not immersed in the world of healthcare, Shara enjoys hiking, weight lifting, book club debates, and moonlighting in community theatre. She sends her love to her amazing family, Eric, Satia, and Olivia, who have bravely endured her enthusiastic line-memorizing around the house.

- Benjamin Yoder is portraying “George Jones.” His previous stage experiences includes several roles in A Night of One Acts and various roles in the annual Living Way of the Cross, most notably two years portraying “Pontius Pilate”. He grew up with eight siblings and looks forward to having a large family of his own. He would like to thank God for his many blessings, his parents for their constant support, and his wonderful wife, Heaven, for introducing him to this hobby that denies him all free time.

- Heaven Yoder, portraying “Woman 1,” is a veteran of fifteen productions, her first being in fourth grade. Her favorites including Sahara Nights with Kids Play Theater Company in Greenfield and Little Women Radio Show with Our Town Players in Franklin. Having recently moved to North Vernon, Heaven is a proud duck owner, artist, and barista and she enjoys reading, collecting stickers, and outdoor adventures. She wishes to thank her parents, who have supported her theater journey; her in-laws who put up with all of her crazy shenanigans; and to her husband, Benjamin. The cast wishes her special wishes for opening night - her 21st birthday.

- Daphne Talkington portrays the role of “Woman 2”. She is a lifelong lover of live theatre. Among her favorite roles are “Mrs. White” in Clue, “Scout” in To Kill a Mockingbird, and “Dorothy” in The Wizard of Oz. Away from the theatre she enjoys music, art, hiking, reading, and karaoke with friends. Daphne would like to thank her incredible and always supportive husband, Alex, and to also give a shout-out to her amazing mom, Kimberly, for knocking it out of the park with her directorial debut!
