Dead fish, including trophy-sized speckled sea trout and redfish, are washing up along the Guana Preserve, prompting environmentalists to call for an investigation and restoration plan.

It’s good to see one of these back in the shop!

Our amphibious excavator is in the final stage of build-up before heading to paint. The last time we built one was in 2020, so it’s exciting to see another one taking shape in the shop again.

Plastic pollution is taking a serious toll on seabirds.

Researchers studying seabirds found alarming amounts of plastic in their digestive systems, with some birds swallowing hundreds of pieces. The plastic can take up valuable space in their stomachs, interfere with nutrition and expose the birds to harmful chemicals.

The findings offer another look at just how far plastic pollution can travel through the environment and the impact it can have on wildlife that mistakes it for food.

Lake Koronis in Minnesota has been battling starry stonewort since 2015. The aquatic invasive species has now been confirmed in 40 Minnesota water bodies and is taking an ecological and economic toll on a growing number of the state’s beloved lakes.

If caught early, starry stonewort is no longer considered a death sentence for lakes. Still, a decade after it was first discovered in Minnesota, it remains a costly problem with no permanent cure.

A randomized controlled trial involving 60 participants in Australia has found that using plastic-free kitchenware and buying food with minimal plastic contact found 60% lower plastic-associated chemicals in urine levels than those in the control group.

Plastic is virtually unavoidable in 2026, but there may be ways to reduce your exposure to some of its associated chemicals.

Despite the rainier days in the second half of August, the Czech Republic continues to face a long-term moisture deficit. One solution that can significantly help combat drought is beaver dams.
While the surrounding landscape is parched, beaver dams retain water in wetlands, pools and parts of meadows. This allows rare plants and animals to survive there.
