Ride for Recovery

Ride for Recovery The Bethany Ride is to benefit women seeking treatment for substance use disorder. Together, we can change the trajectory of their lives!

The Ride for Recovery will raise funds to provide funding to women so cost isn’t a barrier to treatment. Women receiving treatment typically stay at the 30-bed center for 2-5 months depending on their need. A stay at the center costs over $350 per day, and insurance covers only a portion. Your investment will also help provide the best possible care for those who need Bethany’s services.

We’d like to take a moment to address some of the questions we’ve received about this year’s donation recipient. In the past, we have been grateful to support Bethany. However, with the changes that have happened this year, we were not able to partner with them in the way we usually do.

Even so, our mission remains the same: making sure the funds raised go directly toward helping those in recovery. This year, we are excited to share that the net proceeds will be donated to Wishope of Waukesha, in support of their Women’s Housing.
By supporting Wishope’s Women’s Housing, we are walking alongside women in recovery as they take the next steps toward healing and independence.

While the organization receiving funds may be different this year, the impact is just as meaningful. Your support ensures that real lives are being changed, and together, we are building a stronger recovery community. Thank you for continuing to stand with us and for helping us extend hope where it is needed most.

Important Update on 2025 Fund Allocation

Dear Supporters and Community Members,

I am writing to address recent questions and provide transparency regarding the allocation of funds raised through this year's Bethany Ride. My name is David Sherer, and I serve as President and Founder of Ride for Recovery, a registered nonprofit organization.

Our Mission Remains Unchanged
Ride for Recovery operates with a dual mission that has guided us since our founding:

Primary Mission: We assist individuals entering recovery who lack resources or direction. Our comprehensive support includes placement in recovery centers, educational opportunities upon program completion, and job placement assistance. This holistic approach addresses the full spectrum of needs for those beginning their recovery journey.

Secondary Mission: We provide financial support to recovery centers, including facilities like Bethany and Denoon, that serve our community's most vulnerable populations.

Changes in Fund Distribution for 2025
For past two years, we have directed 100% of funds raised directly to the Bethany Center. However, due to organizational transitions at Bethany and our board's strategic assessment of organizational priorities, we are implementing changes to our funding model this year.

Our primary mission of providing comprehensive recovery support, including placement in treatment centers, educational programs, and job placement services, requires significant financial resources to execute effectively. To fulfill this core purpose and maximize our impact on individuals seeking recovery, we must allocate funds accordingly.

Moving forward, we will:
• Allocate resources to directly support our primary mission of comprehensive client assistance
• Reserve necessary funds for essential administrative operations
• Continue supporting the broader recovery community by distributing remaining funds to carefully vetted recovery centers that demonstrate measurable impact

This strategic shift allows us to balance our foundational commitment to individual recovery support with our ongoing dedication to strengthening recovery centers throughout our community.

Our Commitment to Transparency
I recognize that any change from our established practices may raise questions about our intentions and priorities. These concerns are understandable given the trust you place in our organization when you support our events and mission. We value that trust deeply and want to ensure you have complete clarity about our operations and decision-making.

I want to emphasize our unwavering commitment to our mission and supporters. No funds raised through Ride for Recovery are distributed to board members, volunteers, affiliates, or associates for personal benefit. Every dollar raised is dedicated to supporting individuals in recovery and the centers that serve them.

We understand the importance of maintaining your confidence as we navigate these changes, and we welcome your inquiries. Our commitment to transparency and accountability remains absolute as we continue serving those who need recovery support most.

For questions or additional information, please contact me directly at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support and trust in our mission.
Sincerely,
David Sherer

Who wants to take bets on whether or not we will get caught behind this train again this year? We are going to be on Concord again, although from the other direction this year. Our first year, it was funny to get stopped at the train tracks behind the train. Something we definitely didn't think to plan for. Made for a great memory though!
