The Byway meanders for 100 miles through outstanding scenery with remarkable views of the crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Visitors will see massive granite domes, majestic peaks, sheer canyon walls formed by the San Joaquin river, and expansive high mountain meadows.

Restoring the Loop: Norris Creek Bridge Reopens

In coordination with the Sierra National Forest, the Federal Highway Administration worked with contractors to rebuild Norris Creek Bridge. The newly reopened bridge is now two lanes and restores essential access to camping, hiking, and sightseeing in remote areas. Restoring Norris Creek Bridge is part of the agency’s larger effort to restore access and rebuild infrastructure. Hey Griz Century Riders! For years they’d been telling us “the Norris Creek Bridge will be done soon”! So that last 2 years I believed them & re-routed the century route to go over the bridge. For years it’s been “fake news”. Well, no more. If appears to be done. Now, hopefully they’re paving that final 1.5 miles from Minerats Rd to the bridge. The 2026 Griz will now be epic!
