Our 6th graders took the field for their last ever practice as Westfield Dodgers Little Leaguers. It's hard to believe how quickly the years have gone by. What feels like yesterday was really seasons of dirt-stained uniforms, nervous first at-bats, big wins, tough losses, laughter in the dugout, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Tonight wasn't just the end of a practice—it was the closing of a chapter. These players have grown so much, not only as athletes, but as young men. We've watched them learn perseverance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the value of hard work. We've celebrated their successes and helped them through their struggles, all while watching them become who they are today.
Even though this was their final practice, they still have 3 more games left to play together before this chapter officially comes to an end.
The field may change, the uniforms may change, and the game will move on to bigger diamonds, but a piece of Little League will always stay with them. The friendships, the lessons, the memories, and the love of the game don't end here.
To our 6th graders: thank you for letting us be part of your journey. We are proud of each and every one of you. Keep working hard, keep chasing your dreams, and never forget where it all started.
Once a Dodger, always a Dodger. 💙⚾.
