Each department brought its imagination and Halloween spirit to the table, transforming ordinary pumpkins into extraordinary works of art! From spooky and silly to downright hilarious, these one-of-a-kind creations showcase the incredible creativity, personality, and talent of our Edgewood team.

And who has the toughest job of all? Our resident judges! With so many imaginative entries, our residents have their work cut out for them as they carefully rank each masterpiece and determine which department will earn this year's bragging rights!

Beyond the competition, this fun-filled tradition is a wonderful reminder of the joy, camaraderie, and sense of community that make Edgewood such a special place.

Halloween at Edgewood wouldn't be complete without a favorite treat from Loanne. Each year, this Edgewood resident makes Halloween happier with her delightful Tootsie Pop pumpkin, a colorful creation covered with fruity lollipops for residents and team members to enjoy. This annual tradition has become a wonderful reminder that sometimes the simplest gestures bring the biggest smiles. Loanne's creativity, generosity, and festive spirit make the season a little sweeter for everyone. Thank you, Loanne, for continuing this fun tradition and "treating" your Edgewood neighbors and team.

Ellen is a Sales Counselor in her fifth year at Edgewood. She goes above and beyond to support prospective residents and their families, sharing her knowledge and helping them navigate the many decisions that come with transitioning to a senior living community.

Residents and Advantage Club members celebrated Oktoberfest in true Bavarian style. Edgewood’s culinary team served up a feast of sausages, potato salad, schnitzel, sauerkraut, pretzels Mittel Scharf mustard, German b**r, and refreshing beverages. Desserts included Linzer cookies, Black Forest cupcakes, apple strudel, and more. Despite an overcast day, spirits were bright as the band kept a bouncy beat with plenty of oom-pah-pah. Prost to another wonderful Oktoberfest at Edgewood!

Stumped for what to get that special someone on your list? Then head to the Holiday Craft Fair in the Edgewood Clubhouse. There are wooden toys for children on your nice list and wooden cutting boards that are as beautiful as they are practical. How about some colorful pottery to adorn the holiday table? Or handmade jewelry for a one-of-a-kind look? You’ll also find individually created watercolor cards, watercolor paintings, origami, and prints of handmade quilts. All make wonderful gifts, and all are made by the talented residents of Edgewood. Join us for a shopping experience sure to brighten the holidays.

Maria is a housekeeper at The Meadows Health Center at Edgewood. Working at The Meadows comes with additional challenges and responsibilities because of the extensive regulations and life-safety requirements in a nursing home environment.

“We recently completed our Department of Public Health survey, and everything went wonderfully,” said Lucy G., Environmental Services Director. “I truly believe that Maria’s hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn have contributed to that success.”

Maria started with Edgewood as a housekeeper in independent living, where she did an excellent job and stepped up to cover the laundry department whenever needed.

“No matter where I placed her, she always succeeded,” says Lucy. “When an opening became available at The Meadows, I immediately thought, ‘Perfect! This is for her.’

I am very proud of how much she has grown and how well she is doing in her new role. She continues to show that wherever we put her, she succeeds!”

A beautiful late summer day was all Edgewood residents Don and Marcy needed to gear up for a paddle on Lake Cochichewick. Sharing outdoor adventures, whether on land or lake, is easy for Edgewood residents. Walking trails on campus connect to hiking trails that take you to the top of Half Mile Hill to the north and Weir Hill to the south. Or you can take Joyce’s Trail and follow it along the lakeshore on the east side of Edgewood’s campus. At Edgewood, the community is built through everyday acts of kindness. Edgewood resident Dave embodies that spirit. He collects beverage cans and brings them to Market Basket, where he recycles them one by one through the redemption machines.

So far, Dave’s recycled more than 14,000 cans. At five cents a pop, that’s over $700 — which Dave has donated to Edgewood’s Employee Appreciation Fund. In addition to his generosity (and patience with the machines, Dave’s recycling efforts have kept hundreds of pounds of cans from ending up in landfills or littering our roadsides. To recognize his recycling efforts, Edgewood recently presented Dave with a special thank you gift signed by staff members. Thanks, Dave, for picking up and giving back one can at a time.
