Here's what some of our MVS runners are saying about our coaching programs.
We hope that you will check them out and agree. We are looking forward to helping you attain all of your 2022 running goals!

"The Tuesday interval workouts are a great way to increase your pace, strength, stamina, and motivation for upcoming road races! I ran Summer and Fall track this year and it was wonderful to be able to train together with other runners after the pause during Covid. Coaches Sharon and Lisa do a fantastic job of providing interesting workouts, stretches, and drills. I ran my first half-marathon in Newburyport on Nov 7 with a PR of 1:33:36. Thanks Sharon and Lisa for providing progressively more challenging workouts week after week, which helped get me into top shape for this race!"

A good coach should be able to instill confidence in the athlete in their racing AND training. A good coach should also be able to inspire athletes to be their best and work hard during all their workouts and races. Sharon Johnson and Lisa Fields Corbett make me want to work hard. Both women inspire me!
Sharon has pushed me to sign up for races outside of our weekly track workouts to make me a stronger runner and my finish times have improved tremendously. Both her and Lisa encourage me before, during and after every track practice.
Sharonās game plan every week is unmatched and her workouts push all of us to our limits

This year I set a goal to run a marathon PR and qualify for the Boston Marathon. Joining the MVS morning track with coach Sharon turned speed work into something fun that I looked forward to each week. I attained both of my season goals and really enjoyed the coaching and camaraderie of the group.

Sharon and Lisa have helped me improve not only my running speed and form, but also my racing confidence. In the time Iāve worked with Sharon and Lisa, I have significantly lowered my times in every distance from 1 mile to the marathon. Their training has also strengthened my approach to the mental aspects of running. It is extremely encouraging and inspiring to have coaches who are so active and knowledgeable about the sport to guide these workouts. Thank you Sharon and Lisa!

Having joined MVS after a long hiatus from running, I have enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow members as we work on our various goals. Having been a sprinter/middle distance runner in the past, running a marathon had been my post-graduate goal. Alas, injury and life happened and it was put on the shelf. The coaching program has given me a lot of information and feedback on becoming more of a distance runner. Through the coached track program Iāve learned more about pace, speed, and tempo. Iāve built up my capacity for endurance and Iāve learned PATIENCE! The coached strength program, āHills, Drills, and Skillsā has pointed out weaknesses and imbalances in strength that could (and probably have) lead to injury. I enjoy the group workouts each week as it makes you work a little harder and the coaches are very good at offering modifications if needed and/or making it more individualized if you need to work around an injury.
After several years of patiently building up my strength and endurance, I am a happy finisher of both the Boston (virtual) Marathon 2020 and the New York City (in person!) Marathon 2021. I arrived at the starting lines with no injuries and achieved my goals of; 1. Finishing and 2. Achieving the time goals I set for myself.

With 37 years running in the booksā¦ā¦I have to say the last 12 years of being coached by Sharon were instrumental in achieving my goals. My enthusiasm for running increased due to Sharonās advise and encouragement. Sharonās commitment to all runners produces results! I qualified for Boston in my 60ās, ran Boston and qualified again!
Iāll be at Winter track!
