FREE lactation and parenting services and support to families of Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Call or Text 24/7 for support 413-344-2800

BNF provides Berkshire County families services prenatally, and postpartum up to 6 months, with additional support offered up to a year or longer whenever needed. BNF provides developmental education, lactation consultations, a 24/7/365 feeding and parenting support line, playgroups, peer support groups, childbirth and breastfeeding classes, and home, clinic, pediatrician-based, and virtual visits – all for free – thanks to the generous support of grants and donors. No family ever receives a bill from BNF.

Our feeding appointments typically happen in your home, because that's where feeding actually happens.

🧡 During the Visit
We'll start by simply talking — about your birth experience, how feeding has been going, what's feeling hard, and what's working. Then we'll observe a feeding together, which helps us understand what's happening in real time far better than any description could.

Depending on what we see, we may do a weighted feed (a before-and-after weigh-in to measure how much milk your baby is getting), assess latch and positioning, discuss milk supply, or talk through feeding options beyond breastfeeding. Every visit is different because every family is different.

🧡 You May be Wondering...

Do I have to be breastfeeding?
No. We support families with all feeding methods — breastfeeding, pumping, formula, combination feeding, and if your plan changes, too. If it involves feeding your baby, we can help.

Is there a cost?
Never. Every BNF service is completely free for Berkshire County families, with no eligibility requirements and no insurance needed.

Join Devin in North and Central County, or virtually, for conversation with other parents who get it.

What is a support group?
A support group is a small, guided gathering where parents talk openly about what they’re going through and learn from each other. It’s not therapy, but it’s a supportive environment. It’s connection. You get to hear “me too,” share what’s helped or get some new ideas, and leave feeling less alone.

Who is it for?
Pregnant and postpartum parents of any family structure who want support with how they're feeling. You might be feeling more anxious, be struggling to sleep, not feeling like yourself, or just wanting space to be honest.

Our groups are led by BNF staff with specialized training in perinatal mental health, so the space is warm and structured.

FREE and welcome to all families, no matter how you feed.
No insurance, referral, or diagnosis needed. Just show up as you are.

Have you met Rylee yet?

Rylee joins our clinical team as a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) and a mom. She’s bringing fresh energy to our playgroups and to the revival of our Young Parents Group.

“As a recent client myself, I got to experience firsthand the support and care provided during such a vulnerable time. Becoming a mom has changed my life in so many ways, especially being a young mom. I’m honored to be part of a ‘village’ for other parents, and a familiar face to young parents, showing them that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength.”

Thursdays, 9-11am at 18 Degrees MA in Pittsfield.

Her winter movement group is coming soon, so stay tuned.

Parents of young children (0 - 12 months) are invited to come play and get feeding support. Arrive any time during the playgroup. Siblings are welcome, too!

In the past year we served 700 Berkshire families with services like home visits, group consults, and prenatal programs.

More families are connecting with people in their community, building trusted relationships, rather than referring to information from an internet search.

700 families are getting the care they need and deserve from their village. That makes a lasting impression for generations to come.
