Hoosic River Revival

Hoosic River Revival The vision of Hoosic River Revival is to re-establish the Hoosic River as the heart of North Adams.

The goal of the Hoosic River Revival is to reconnect the river to the city of North Adams, to make it an attribute for recreation, economic development, and community building, while simultaneously maintaining adequate flood control. After years of post-industrial economic struggles, the city is recovering, becoming a hub for those involved in the creative economy and for those interested in becoming part of our rural, educational, cultural community.

Reporting back from this past Saturday’s successful Earth Month Cleanup along the Hoosic River at Noel Field. Huge thanks to North County Litter Pickers for co-hosting, to the city councilors who joined in, and to everyone who helped clear a massive amount of litter!

There’s still plenty of work to do across North Adams—join North County Litter Pickers at an upcoming event (with the next happening during this week’s First Friday event!). In spite of a wintry mix of snow and rain on Sunday, we had a great turnout for our RiverWalk: Part 5. During the walk, architects Tessa Kelly and Chris Parkinson from ARCADE, along with HRR board members, carried and displayed sample flags for an evolving project to create a flag-lined path along the Hoosic River as it winds through the city of North Adams. Following the walk, we met at Hotel Downstreet, where Mayor Jennifer Macksey enthusiastically endorsed the project and vowed the city's partnership. You will hear more about this in the press and as the story unfolds. For now, here are a few photos from the event, where hot cider and veggie stew were provided by Door Prize. Anyone who has more photos to share please send them in a message to us-- we would love to see things from many perspectives. Thank you to all who joined us!
