As we prepare for Yom Kippur, please remember that it is forbidden to fast from food and drink on Yom Kippur if so doing would be dangerous to one's health in any way. For expertise and wisdom on this, see A Mitzvah To Eat, specifically their page About Yom Kippur, which offers resources, information, prayers, and rituals for choosing to eat. As Torah teaches, "I have put heaven and earth to witness within you this day... Choose life, that you and your children may live." (Deut. 30:19)

When fasting is unsafe, it is a mitzvah to eat. Find prayers to bring holiness to eating on Yom Kippur, learn Jewish texts, find answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and order care packages to support those eating on Yom Kippur.

Even if you missed services tonight, you can still contribute to our communal Al Cheyt prayer for Yom Kippur morning! Here's a place where you can anonymously reflect on places where you missed the mark this year, things for which you seek to make teshuvah as the Days of Awe approach:

As music washes over you, write down your answers to this question: "How have I missed the mark in the last year: in relationship to the world, to each other, to self and Source?" Please note that anything you write below will be anonymous — write down what you need to release.
