Thanks for capturing a bit of Saturday night’s fun, Liz Nelson, Dance Caller. With you calling, transcendent music by Spare Parts, and an enthusiastic town-gown community of dancers on a cold rainy night in January - well, it doesn’t get much better!

Rabble-rousing roof-raising good time last night. This is what a community looks like!

Thanks so much to Liz Nelson for jumping in to be our caller (when Ben Sachs-Hamilton had to withdraw late in the week)! And what a revelation Corwin and Grace (Raven & Goose) were! Their musical energy was irresistible!

If you’re at Fresh Grass today, enjoy some contra dancing with Liz Nelson!

Next dance, July 12th.
The fabulous Liz Nelson will be calling, and not only that, but teaching a calling workshop!

Also, as part of our extra-inclusive, extra inviting North Adams location theme, we're having music by "mixer bands" again - great for any contra dance musicians, especially those who want a little more freedom & responsibility than found in an open band situation.

Play a little, dance a little, maybe even come to the afternoon workshop and call a little...

This contra dance is open and welcoming to all, and a great place to meet your neighbors.

July 12th, in the Community Hall of the All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams (next door to the post office).
7:30PM for the dance,
3PM for the calling workshop
suggested donation: $5 - $15

Our Williamstown contra dance will be this Saturday, April 12th, at 7PM.
Jon Greene will call, and music will be provided by an open band - that might include you, except when you're dancing.
More details behind the link in the comments.

Here's a snippet of video from our March dance, at which Luke Donforth called to music by Spare Parts.

Contra dance this Saturday, March 8th.
Music by Spare Parts (hooray!), and calling by Luke Donforth (wow!).
We'll be in the community hall of the First Congregational Church in Williamstown, MA. Dancing starts at 7:30. Donations of $12 - $20 suggested.

Last time Spare Parts played for us was April 2023. I'd hoped to catch both locally composed fiddle tunes in this video, but the lights started flickering, so I had to sort that out instead. (First tune by Aldo Lavaggie, second tune by Tony Pisano.)
