As the Oklahoma affiliate of the National Council on Problem Gambling, we support efforts to reduce gambling-related harm, whether it occurs through casinos games, sports betting, or prediction markets.
Derek Longmeier, President of the National Council on Problem Gambling Board of Directors, submitted written testimony for today’s U.S. Senate hearing on sports betting and gaming integrity before the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Technology, and Data Privacy.
The testimony addresses the growing intersection of financial trading, prediction markets, consumer protection, and gambling-related harm, while emphasizing the need for public awareness, evidence-informed safeguards, responsible participation standards, and access to support resources as these markets continue to evolve.
