The Illinois State University String Project is an after-school music program that offers low-cost instruction on string instruments to kids in the community. The purpose of the program is to support existing public school string programs and to provide string education to those enrolled in schools where no program is available. The ISU String Project also serves as a teacher training program for

undergraduate and graduate string music education students. The ISU String Project is part of the National String Project Consortium. Please visit http://www.stringprojects.org/index.asp to learn more about the NSPC and String Projects across the nation.

Congrats to String Project student alumni (l to r), Seraphina (violin), Aria (viola/violin), and Elaine (piano/violin) who were awarded first and second place (tie) for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra Guild scholarship competition. Each of these talented local high school students performed at the guild luncheon yesterday and received a monetary award for their continued musical studies. We are so proud to count you all as alumni of our program!

Matt is one of 10 Illinois educators chosen out of over 600 nominees to receive this award this year.
