We’re looking for 32 more people to make a Birdies pledge before July 1st.

We’ve already had 68 donors pledge $22,315 for HSSC through Birdies, and now we’re hoping to reach 100 donors before the deadline.

Every pledge represents someone choosing to stand behind the animals in our care.

And when enough people choose to do that together, it adds up to something really meaningful.

Every person who gives becomes part of the care happening here every day.

Part of the kitten who needs extra feedings.

Did you know you can find adoptable cats at more places than just the animal shelter? 🐾

Pet Supplies Plus in both Davenport and Bettendorf are amazing partners of ours and you can find adoptable cats from HSSC there at all times!

Right now, Sniffles is at Pet Supplies Plus in Bettendorf and our big boy Mr. Jones is at Pet Supplies Plus - Davenport, IA. They’d LOVE visitors and would love to find their new homes soon!

Brownie is as sweet as his name implies! 🍫

At around 7, you’ve got a great blend of laid back personality but also ready-to-go playfulness still when the time is right.

Thanks to an amazing supporter, all adult dog and cat adoption fees are waived until July 3rd and that includes Brownie!

This is what Birdies for Charity helps make possible.

Raspberry is one of several tiny kittens currently in our care after a good Samaritan tried to do the right thing.

They had taken in a cat with the intention of helping her and giving her a safe home. Not long after bringing her home, they found out she was pregnant. Then, she gave birth to a litter of kittens.

Taking in one cat was something this person could manage. But caring for a whole litter, including their medical needs, simply wasn’t possible. So they reached out for help.

That’s where we stepped in.

Raspberry, her siblings, and their mom are now in our care. The kittens were born prematurely, so they are smaller than they should be and need extra time, attention, and support. Right now, being with their mom and getting the care they need is the best chance they have.

But that chance only exists because people choose to give.

Kittens like Raspberry need more care than the average pet who comes through our doors, and those costs add up quickly. A whole litter means more food, more medical care, more supplies, more monitoring, and more time from our team.

That’s why we’re asking for support through Birdies for Charity.

So far, 68 people have pledged $22,315 for HSSC, and we’re hoping to reach $30,000 by July 1.

When you give through Birdies, your donation supports HSSC and helps us qualify for bonus match funds, which means your gift can go even further for animals like Raspberry and her family.

It gives “stop and smell the roses” a whole new meaning 💐

Thank you Allison and Ashley for helping us plant new scent enrichment sniff spots for the dogs at HSSC!

Being at a shelter can be a pretty boring and stressful experience for dogs. We do our best to improve their stay until adoption and enrichment for their mind and senses is one of those ways 💙
