What a great week we had at the Kentucky 4-H State Teen Conference!
We had 5 wonderful teens participate in leadership workshops, majors that are career focused, and the 4-H day of service where we went out to assist in helping the friends of Jacobson Park in some beautification projects!

We also got to hear from our outgoing and incoming state 4-H officers, see the hard work of our fashion review participants, and enjoy a night out with our area to Battle Axes! Let’s not forget starting the week out with CloverFest and ending it by dancing the night away at our closing dance!

I am proud of this group, their willingness to have fun, but learn and meet challenges they faced throughout the week! It is a true blessing to get to do this job and serve the youth of this county!!!

Bri is a Nicholasville native and a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky!

Cloverbud Camp- A camp just for our 6 to 8 year olds- OVERNIGHT!

Sign ups APril 28th @ 7pm- TONIGHT!

June 26-28, 2026

Cost: $180

Cloverbud camp is a "mini" version of summer 4-H Camp! The length of the stay is shorter and the staff to camper ratio is greater. Of course campers still participate in all the traditional camp activities offered at 4-H camp, including canoeing, swimming, nature, and recreation, as well as a host of fun nighttime activities. This will be many campers first taste of “sleep-away-camp” so staff and leaders take great care to create a caring community in which a clover bud camper can grow in confidence and begin to enjoy the fun and camaraderie of summer camp!

A day we have dreaded….. and never really believed would come….but a day SO DESERVED! Our Ms. Abby is retiring….

She has poured into the lives of Jessamine Co for 30 years and into mine my whole career. I don’t have the words to describe how much she means to me. She and I are two peas in a pod. We can read each others minds, finish each others sentences. The void we will all feel not having her as a co worker is too big… but knowing we will always have her as our family, and 4-H cheerleader brings some comfort.

I just hope she has felt so so loved by everyone these past few weeks!

If you have a fun memory of Ms. Abby please share below!!! I know she will cherish hearing from you all!

Our final day of an amazing trip….
Today we went to the US mint, (no photos allowed) the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Museum of the American Revolution and the Betsy Ross House all in Philadelphia, PA. We had a great lunch at Oh Brother Philly, and many tried Philly cheesesteaks!

Tomorrow we travel home, and I hope these young people have had the experience of a lifetime. I hope they take back a bit of history with them, and realize how much voice and action it took to form our nation. I hope they have wonderful memories.

I also hope they know how special each one of them are, from our county and all the counties. How important they are, and cared about they are, and they feel encouraged to always stand up, use their voice, learn, speak, take a risk, hop out of their comfort zone and be great.

This trip has been absolutely outstanding from beginning to end, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible hard work my co workers put in to make this happen. When I say we are lucky to have each other, I mean it. We have taken great care in planning this trip, and helping each young person grow theough their experiences.

Today we visited George Washington Crossing, Valley Forge and made our way to the Rocky Steps in Philadelphia.

We spent today in NYC! We started with a walking tour Bowling Green Park, Alexander Hamilton’s Customs House, Trinity Church, Wall Street, St Paul’s Chapel, and Federal Hall. Yummy lunch at Fraunces Tavern where George Washington gave his farewell bid to his officers.

We had time to go to th 9/11 memorial, and got to see the only remaining part of the world trade center…. See the picture with the orange spray paint read the marker witb It….. truly humbling.

We wrapped up the day in New York with boat tour of the bay and getting to see the Statue of Liberty.
We finished the night at PaPas Tomato Pies… which has been around since 1912!!! We got to chat with the owner and he gave us the history! So fun!

Im proud of these kids, we are havu g the best time!
