Ahead of Certified Nursing Assistants Weeks, leaders at Riverside Regional Medical Center - Peninsula presented Dajah Mckinnon (CNA ll, CCHW) with this year’s CNA/PCA of the Year Award for the facility.
"Dajah is so incredibly deserving of this award." says Mary Haigh, Senior Director of Emergency Services. "The examples shared in her nomination truly capture her character and passion for supporting both her patients and her team in her roles as an ED PCA and as a Clinical Intervention Specialist on our HVIP team."
Below is a portion of what was shared in the nomination submission:
"Dajah consistently exemplifies the highest Riverside standards of patient-centered care, professionalism, and teamwork, making a meaningful impact on both patients and colleagues every day. In our fast paced and often unpredictable environment, Dajah demonstrates exceptional clinical awareness and compassion. Dajah approaches every interaction with patients and their families with dignity, empathy and respect. Dajah’s calm presence and genuine kindness help to create a sense of comfort and trust during vulnerable times. What truly sets Dajah apart is her commitment to excellence beyond assigned duties."
The nomination then goes on to describe a time that Dajah established a deep connection with a child during a vulnerable time. She gave the child a couple of the charms from her bracelet to have something to remember her by. The child’s CPS worker was able to establish regular calls with Dajah to provide the child with at least one consistent source of support.
Thank you, Dajah, for continually supporting the Riverside mission and embodying the Riverside Care Difference. Happy CNA Week!
