Join us on Tuesday, June 30th via Zoom from 1:00-2:00 PM about The Youth E-Bike Health and Safety Crisis.

This presentation provides an overview of the growing youth e-bike health and safety crisis. It reviews current trends in e-bike injury incidence and common injury patterns, including trauma severity, high-risk populations, and factors contributing to emergency department visits and hospitalizations.

The session also explores underlying reasons for e-bike crashes, such as increased speeds, rider inexperience, distracted riding, infrastructure limitations, and inconsistent helmet use. Finally, participants will discuss evidence-based injury prevention strategies and community resources, including safety education, helmet promotion, policy initiatives, and approaches to counseling patients and families on safe e-bike practices

Summer is upon us, and playgrounds are a great place for children to stay active, build confidence, and have fun, but they can also be a common source of injuries.

Falls, cuts, sprains, and even head injuries can happen when equipment isn't used properly or when play areas aren't adequately maintained. Fortunately, a few simple precautions can go a long way in helping keep kids safe.

Before your next trip to the playground, take a moment to review these important safety tips. Supervising children, choosing age-appropriate equipment, checking playground surfaces, and ensuring proper footwear can help prevent many common injuries.

If your child experiences a playground injury or you're concerned about a bump, fall, or sports-related injury, ActiveKidMD is here to help keep them healthy, active, and ready for their next adventure.

Read a new article that has just been published in the American College of Surgeons regarding e-bike safety. One of the authors is Clinic in the Park founder Dr. Phyllis Agran.

Rising pediatric e-bike injuries mirror motor vehicle trauma due to gaps in US federal regulations.

June is National Safety Month!

E-bikes are fun and make getting around easier, but they’re heavier and faster than regular bikes. That means less time to react, slow down or stop, and a greater chance of losing control. If your teen rides an e-bike, a regular bike helmet might not protect them at these speeds. Choose a helmet with extra coverage, thick padding, a strong shell and increased impact protection such as MIPS to help reduce the risk of brain injury.

💡DYK: In California, riders under 18 must wear a helmet on all bikes.
