The Junior League of Orange County, CA is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership skills for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

This League year, we’re celebrating 70 years of JLOCC history — the women, the moments, and the milestones that made us who we are today.

In September 1956, 44 women came together in Newport Harbor to form what would become JLOCC — with a purpose to render “the most effective volunteer service in the welfare, educational, cultural, and civic phases of our community.” Their very first act? Establishing the Community Volunteer Bureau to coordinate volunteering across all of Orange County. 70 years later, that spirit lives on. 🧡

This is just the beginning. Follow along all League year as we uncover the stories and the legacy that 70 years of JLOCC women have built across Orange County.

From award wins to parliamentary procedure marathons, JLOCC made the most of every moment at AJLI’s Annual Conference in Indianapolis.

The Conference kicked off BIG with JLOCC receiving the inaugural Innovation Award for establishing The Training Collaborative!

✨ As a member of the AJLI Governance Board, JLOCC’s very own, Dr. Sandra Thompson presented the Find the Good Day Award at the Awards Ceremony and recognized the Outgoing Executive Vice Presidents at the banquet.

✨ President Stephanie Suarez shared how JLOCC and Girl Scouts of Orange County are building a partnership at the Proud to “Bee” Junior League luncheon. As JLOCC’s delegate, she rolled up her sleeves for the dialogue, debate, voting, and lots (and lots!) of parliamentary procedure during the business sessions.

✨ Executive Vice President Suzanne Lee represented JLOCC throughout the Conference, helping capture ideas, strengthen League connections, and bring back inspiration to shape the future of our organization.

The Conference wrapped up by celebrating another League year and officially “passing the mic” to AJLI’s incoming leadership, including incoming AJLI President Diane Flanagan.

Yesterday evening was a wonderful Service Learning event with Generation Her! We wrapped up our spring Period Products Drive with a delivery of 4,087 feminine products to Generation Her.

We also provided instruction for their Life Skills Workshop focused on healthy cooking — using two recipes from our very own JLOCC cookbook! Generation Her participants during the month of June will receive a copy, donated courtesy of JLOCC.

It was exciting to hear more about their newly launched “Lead Her Forward” mentorship program, which is supported by a JLOCC micro-grant awarded last month. The program supports moms toward personal development, leadership skills, and mental and emotional wellness.

We’re so proud of how this community partnership has grown over the past year and can’t wait to see what comes next!
