Did you know Frederick the Great was known as "The Potato King"? 🥔👑
Here’s why this legendary Prussian monarch is still remembered today:
Military & Reform Legend ⚔️: Beloved for his enlightened reforms and battlefield victories, his people affectionately called him Der Alte Fritz ("The Old Fritz").
City Builder 🏛️: He transformed Berlin with iconic landmarks still standing today, including the Berlin State Opera, the Royal Library, and Humboldt University.
Animal Lover 🐕🐎: He founded Prussia’s first veterinary school, adored his horse, and loved his greyhounds so much he asked to be buried alongside them!
The Potato Savior 🥔: He boosted the food supply by draining swamps for farmland and introducing potatoes and turnips. To this day, visitors leave potatoes on his grave at Sanssouci Palace! 🇩🇪✨

In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 13, 1961, East German troops and police executed Operation Rose, tearing up streets and unrolling miles of barbed wire along the border dividing East and West Berlin.
Overnight, Berliners awoke to find their city abruptly physically bisected—severing subway lines, blocking roadways, and instantly trapping families, friends, and coworkers on opposite sides of the Cold War divide.
Designed to stop the massive outflow of East Germans escaping to the West, this hastily erected barricade of wire and cinder blocks rapidly expanded into the heavily fortified, 27-mile concrete wall that would divide the city for the next 28 years.
The family lived through it; escaped- it will not be forgotten! 🥲
