On Friday, October 16, Savannah town officials and community members joined CCE Wayne personnel in front of the Savannah Town Hall to celebrate the installation of a Bike Fixit Station- an essential cyclist amenity along the Empire State Trail. The “station,” which includes an array of tools, a bike pump, and support arms to hold a bicycle while fixing, is available for both visitors and residents to use without charge.
Many thanks to everyone who attended and special thanks to Town Highway Superintendent, Jeff Liddle, for installing, Savannah Town Clerk, Mara Gill, for helping to promote the celebration, and to the Savannah,NY Chamber of Commerce, for purchasing the way-finding signage.
Though 100% rain was forecasted, thankfully it held off until after the ceremony making it a pleasant experience for the 15 people in attendance.
Clyde cyclist, Dennis Doyle, graciously demonstrated how the station is used and shared about his experience cycling the Empire State Trail and Brian Manktelow NY State Assembly 130th district, presented a citation to Supervisor, Mike Kolczynski for the Town of Savannah.
The bike fixit station is a final gift from SOAR, a resident-driven grant which was administered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County and was funded by the Greater Rochester Health Foundation.
CCE Wayne is pleased to offer this gift which will continue giving to both residents and visitors for years to come.
