Azaaban

Azaaban Based in NYC, we promote the preservation of monuments, books, artifacts, music, art and languages of the Burkinabé culture.

Azaaban means «You are Welcome» in the Kasem language of Burkina Faso. You are welcome to a cross cultural dialogue with the goal of promoting mutual respect and kindness. We believe building personal connections is the path to peace between nations. To overcome suffering in the world, Azaaban seeks to reach people everywhere and transform the nature of human relations, replacing indifference wit

h genuine concern, inaction with dynamism, selfishness with service to humanity. We promote compassion, love and reconnection with cultural heritage. The major vision of this organization is to highlight the importance of cultural legacy to the Burkinabé in diaspora and its role in interactions with Americans. We promote the preservation of monuments, books, artifacts, music, art and languages of the Burkinabé culture. We also recognize the fluid nature of culture in our personal identity and the importance of uniqueness in the melding of our societies. However, affirmation and recognition of aspects of ourselves in others can be an empowering experience, which is why so many African Americans seek to reconnect with their African roots.
