Our Story
In 2017, Kimberly Horrell decided to make a bid for public office. She was by no means a "career politician" but rather saw the opportunity as a chance to give back to the residents of Westmoreland County. Her daughter, Deidra Keremes, agreed to lead her mother's efforts by becoming her Campaign Manager. The heartbeat of Kimberly's campaign was as simple as one central theme: community outreach. Kimberly's purpose for running was always focused on the residents of Westmoreland County and it was this commitment that propelled her on a mission to serve in any capacity she could. Kimberly's passion was contagious and soon inspired her close family members and friends to actively get involved. Together, Kimberly and her team volunteered and attended over 70 events across Westmoreland County throughout her campaign. And although she came up just 1,400 votes shy of winning her election in November, Kimberly knew she had already started a movement that had to continue. The entire experience of being a candidate in a countywide election was extremely rewarding for Kimberly. Looking back, it was the many fundraisers, festivals, food drives, outreach efforts, and senior center events that left such an impact on her entire team. They met so many wonderful people all working to make a difference in Westmoreland County. It was truly encouraging.
This yearning to serve and give back inspired Kimberly's vision to continue the outreach she began during her campaign by helping businesses, organizations, and nonprofits throughout Westmoreland County. With the support of her daughter Deidra, son-in law David, mother Dee, and sister Vicky, Helping Hands Across Westmoreland was born.
Both Kimberly and Deidra strongly believe that this mission is the perfect way to honor God's calling for them to serve. Our team wants Westmoreland County to thrive. Let us know who could use our helping hands! We're ready to serve.
