A very special THANK YOU to all of our Post members, Auxiliary members, families, friends, and guests who came out today to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VFW Post 7987 – Chester McKay!

What a wonderful turnout! Seeing so many people come together to celebrate 80 years of veterans, service, fellowship, and community made this milestone even more special.

Our Post would not be what it is today without the dedication and support of our Post and Auxiliary membership. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare, cook, serve, set up, clean up, donated food, or simply came out to celebrate with us.

80 years strong — and still going! 🇺🇸

Thank you for making today a celebration we will remember for years to come.

🇺🇸 THIS DAY IN MILITARY HISTORY — AUGUST 25, 1944 🇺🇸

The Liberation of Paris

On August 25, 1944, after more than four years of German occupation, Paris was liberated during World War II.

The French 2nd Armored Division and the U.S. 4th Infantry Division, supported by the French Resistance, entered the city and helped eliminate remaining German resistance. The German commander in Paris formally surrendered that afternoon. (U.S. Army Center of Military History⁠)

For the American troops who had fought their way from the beaches of Normandy across France, the liberation represented another major step toward the eventual defeat of N**i Germany.

Today, VFW Post 7987 remembers the courage, sacrifice, and determination of all those who fought for freedom during World War II.

We remember their service. We honor their sacrifice. We carry their legacy forward.
