⚓ Day 3 of our series takes us to Iceland aboard the USCGC Eagle!

Cadets participate in “School of the Ship” training, learning the fundamentals of seamanship while underway. Their training includes hands-on experience with line handling, setting and dousing sails, and even climbing the ship’s main mast.

These foundational skills build confidence, teamwork, and a deep understanding of life at sea - experiences that help shape future Coast Guard leaders. Moments like these are part of the service’s living history that will be preserved and shared through the National Coast Guard Museum in New London, Connecticut.

Day 2 of our series continues aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle. Cadets are seen conducting damage control training while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, practicing essential techniques such as plugging and patching used to respond to flooding emergencies at sea.

Training like this is a critical part of their development, building the skills and confidence needed for real-world Coast Guard operations. Moments from experiences like these will be preserved and shared through the National Coast Guard Museum in New London, Connecticut.

Day 1 of our series is starting off at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

These photos feature incoming students who recently took their oath at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut - home to both the Academy and the future National Coast Guard Museum - marking the beginning of their journey toward becoming Coast Guard cadets.

Over seven weeks, Cadets face rigorous training designed to develop the skills, discipline, and leadership qualities needed for a future of service.

As our series continues, we'll be sharing more moments that highlight the experiences and dedication required to become the next generation of Coast Guard leaders. See you tomorrow for the next one!

Meet Ruby! 🐾⚓

Ruby is one of the friendliest members of the National Coast Guard Museum Association team. When she's not greeting our team or brightening up the office, she loves taking walks along the waterfront and checking in on the progress at the National Coast Guard Museum construction site in New London, Connecticut!

We think she's just as excited for the Museum to open as we are!
