Congratulations to club members Jack and Neil on the completion of their turbine waivers. Neil’s was completed on Labor Day and Jack got his done yesterday. The Hangar 9 MB-339 powered by a King Tech K-86 G4+ with Spektrum under the canopy has been a great first jet for these guys.

Club members have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather lately. This Thursday, Friday and Saturday is Harvest Huck in Marshalltown. If you haven’t been to this event, you are missing out! It’s close to home and is something you must experience if you are into model airplanes. Several Crossed Signals pilots will be flying there all 3 days.

Congratulations to Jason Gorman on the first flight on the “new to him” Aeroworks Edge 540 powered by a DA120 and guided by Spektrum. Jason said it only took one click of up elevator trim, great job Jason.

Trail Challenge at the Airport, be sure to check it out. Probably be some model airplanes in the air that day, electric powered only.

We had so much fun the last time - we're doing it again!

Sunday will be a great day at the airport. There is a Plumb Creek Saddle Club obstacle course horse racing event at 2PM. Additionally, several RC pilots plan on flying tomorrow. We will be flying mainly electric powered planes to keep the noise down as much as possible to not disturb the race. Spectators welcome and it’s free to watch. Come on out!!!

The heat didn’t scare away all the pilots today. Lots of guys flying and some club members came by just to watch for a bit before heading somewhere cooler. We want to congratulate Hugo Groenewald on 6 successful buddy box flights today. Hugo is from South Africa and has flown giant scale R/C planes and turbine R/C jets back home, but he hasn’t flown at all since 2017!!! It was his first flight with his brand new Spektrum iX20 transmitter as well. Crossed Signals club members have a couple gas powered planes all setup for Hugo to fly, we are pretty sure he’s hooked on R/C again!

A couple of Crossed Signals members attended the Lone Tree Flyers event in Lone Tree, Iowa over the weekend. It was a great event with pilots there from many states. All types of aircraft flew Friday and Saturday. And what do you do when one of the best helicopter pilots in the world shows up and needs a place in the shade to setup? You let him use your shade! It was awesome to have Ryan Sams under the canopy of some Crossed Signals members. If you’ve never seen Ryan fly, you are missing out. Finally, some club members flew tonight before the rain came. Some photos from Lone Tree are taken from the Lone Tree Flyers page, credit Roger Weber.
