Hearts4Paws is a New Bedford-based NO KILL animal rescue serving the South Shore of Massachusetts and housing cats at the Adoption Center at PetSmart in Bourne via a partnership with PetSmart Charities.

Sweet sisters Sophie and Wednesday 🐈‍⬛ went home for keeps tonight. Their momma has been patiently waiting for them to spayed and vaccinated so she could give them the princess 👑 life they deserve. Congratulations little ladies. And to their new momma! Happy tails!!!

Hip hip hooray for these two angels who have the best seats in the house 👀 🐿️

Here’s an update from their magnificent H4P Foster parents:

“This lovely duo got adopted last Thursday and they have already taken over the house! Bonnie and Ghost have arrived to us as a pair of spicy 5-week old kittens and have blossomed into adorable sweet kitties. Look how comfortable they are in their forever home!!”

Another stupendous Spay Day is in the books!

Together our the team Marion Animal Hospital and our dedicated Hearts 4 Paws volunteers successfully spayed and neutered 16 cats and kittens.

What’s a spay day look like???

All cats are triaged as they come in (you can see McKenna and Evie in the exam room here). We take temps, weights, check for fleas and mites, and measure heart rates and respirations. We also triple check that we have the correct s*x for each kitten. (Did you know that a female cat spay is far more involved than a male neuter and requires more time and resources?)

Next kittens are brought out to the preop/postop area and placed in cages where they are then examined by a vet.

Kitties are pre medicated and then are taken out back one by one to the operating room. We had three amazing vets performing these surgeries yesterday (it’s a labor of love for sure!). Cats are also given vaccines, have blood drawn for Feluk/Fiv testing, and have their nails clipped.

Kittens are all closely monitored throughout the procedure and thereafter. It’s common for their body temps to drop so volunteers monitor temps and general recoveries, reporting to the vets any changes. Kittens rest comfortably on heating pads as their temps rebound.

Yesterday we only had two little kittens that needed a little extra intervention because of they were sensitive to the anesthesia. This is why close monitoring is so important. Both are doing just fine now 🙂

In the homestretch, kittens are cleared to go, packed up in their carriers, paperwork is completed, and they are sent back to their foster homes until they are adopted.

Lastly begins the cleaning frenzy! Disinfecting each cage, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, trash, and supply replacements.

From there, everyone goes home and hopefully puts their aching feet up and reflects back on such an exciting and fulfilling day.

Really, from the bottom of our hearts, we have gratitude for each and every person who participated in yesterday’s event! Thank you!

A foster has been secured!!! However we are looking to add more people to our foster roster if your still interested in fostering another kitty please reach out to sign up!!!

We are desperately seeking a short term foster or a foster to adopt situation for this extremely sweet little lady! She was found as a stray and no one has claimed her so she is looking for a safe place to land with hearts4paws!

We would love to take her on but we are bursting at the seems with intakes and all of our current fosters are full.

We would provide all needed supplies and all of her medical care will be taken care of!! Please send us a message right away if you can help!!!

Edit to add: Right now we don’t know how she is with other animals and since she has not been tested for FIV/FELV or vaccinated just yet we would recommend the foster keep her in a separate space until she has had some vetting then she can introduced to other pets

Guess what today is! SPAY DAY! 🐈 🐈‍⬛ ✂️

We are all getting ready to gather with our amazing partners at Marion Animal Hospital to spay and neuter 16 cats and kittens.

Dr. Francis, her team, and the H4P volunteers will spend today helping to ensure that all of the kitties we adopt out are both healthy and fixed.

Keep all kitties in your thoughts today for a great bill of health, safe procedure, and swift recovery!
