Yesterday, 16 members qualified for our End of the Year FFA Awards Trip. These members have been extremely active this year by participating in contests and fundraising! To thank them for the hard work this year we celebrated together! We spent the day bonding together at Top Golf in Chesterfield, lunch at Raising Canes, and ended the day shopping!

While the result didn’t go her way, her courage, leadership, and dedication to FFA continue to shine bright! 🏆ADVANCING TO STATE🏆

Congratulations to Raygen Juenger who won 1st Place in the District 5 Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest last night! Raygen will be advancing to the STATE CONTEST at the Illinois FFA State Convention this summer!

🎉What is Extemporaneous Public Speaking?
Participants deliver a 4–6 minute, un-rehearsed speech on an agricultural topic. Participants select a topic, have 30 minutes to prepare using limited resources, and then answer five minutes of questions from judges, testing their knowledge and speaking skills.

🐷On April 17th, eight New Athens FFA members competed in the Livestock Evaluation CDE at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Members evaluated different breeds of pigs, cattle, goats, and sheep all for either breeding or market.🐑

🏆ADVANCING TO STATE🏆

Last night five members competed in the Section 22 Ag Mechanics CDE at Mascoutah High School and placed 2nd! Erica Bohn competed in surveying and placed 2nd. Palin Deterding competed in welding and placed 1st. Karter Kurtz competed in electricity and placed 3rd. Logan Lippert competed in carpentry and placed 1st. Wyatt Stangle competed in Ag Power and placed 5th. Special congratulations to Palin and Logan for winning their respective areas, they will be advancing to the state contest on May 7th!
