What happens when you hand over 50 leaders a bunch of canned goods and tell them to start building? 4,267 lbs of food for the Atlanta community πŸ—οΈπŸ₯«

We brought our ArCANtecture event to HD Supply's headquarters in Atlanta, where five teams of senior leadership went head-to-head in the ultimate creative challenge: designing and building structures using only cans and boxes of non-perishable food.

The competition was fierce. The structures were incredible, including a full-scale HD Supply truck built entirely out of canned goods. And every single item used is being donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank to support families facing food insecurity across the Atlanta metro area.

All told, HD Supply's support fueled more than 50,000 meals through our mission to reduce food waste and fight hunger. From the first can placed to the last box, this team brought the energy, the creativity, and a whole lot of heart. We're grateful for every single pound.

92 billion pounds of food end up in U.S. landfills every year. 47 million Americans don't know where their next meal is coming from. This Earth Day, let's talk about what connects those two numbers. 🌍

It's easy to see how that's a hunger problem, but what's harder to imagine is that it is also an environmental one. Food waste rotting in landfills generates methane, a greenhouse gas 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

When LawnStarter set out to rank all 50 states on food waste, they asked our founder Adam Lowy what the data actually means and what any of us can do about it right now.

His answer starts at home:

πŸ₯« Shop your fridge before your grocery store
πŸ“… Stop trusting "Best By" dates as safety deadlines, they're not
♻️ Compost when you can. Landfill should be the last resort, not the default

Since 2009, Move For Hunger has delivered more than 50 million meals by connecting systems that already exist β€” moving trucks, relocation professionals, housing operators β€” to the people who need them most. The solutions are all around us. We just have to take action.

Somewhere right now, a family is clearing out their kitchen for a move. Canned goods, pasta, rice, half a shelf of perfectly good food…and most of it will end up in a trash bag before the movers arrive.

Most companies celebrate a milestone with a party. Goya Foods celebrated 90 years by donating nearly 16,000 lbs of food to families who need it most.

Through our Freight Savings program, our Charity Freight Partner Echo Global Logistics transported the donation to Lowcountry Food Bank at a deeply discounted rate, putting more resources back into the food bank's hands to serve their community across coastal South Carolina.

From Lowcountry Food Bank: "The donations arrived just as scheduled. I cannot thank everyone enough for facilitating this. The plan that's already underway is to share Goya's donations across coastal South Carolina to make sure our neighbors everywhere can enjoy these items. By this time next week, the entire donation load will be in the hands of our friends in need."

Three partners. One mission. Thousands of meals already on their way to tables in South Carolina.

Happy 90th anniversary, Goya. Here's to many more years of giving back.

60,000 meals. One unforgettable round of mini golf. πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ₯«

This week, we teamed up with Danaher Corporation for a custom Bread and Putter experience at Start Line Brewing in Boston. We built a miniature golf course entirely out of non-perishable food items, and their team came ready to play. They competed hole by hole through cans, boxes, and bags of food for a seriously fun afternoon of team building.

When the last putt dropped, every item on the course was donated to the Boston Medical Center Preventive Food Pantry to help families facing food insecurity right here in the Boston community.

The result: 60,000 meals provided through a single afternoon of creativity, competition, and collaboration. That's the power of turning team building into community impact.

A week of learning. A week of connection. And 8,000 meals made possible along the way. πŸ’™

Last month, Move For Hunger joined the Multifamily Strategic Marketing Summit as a Charitable Sponsor, and it was one of those weeks that reminds you why this work matters.

Our own Bridget Foley got to take the stage and share our mission with an industry uniquely positioned to help fight hunger. We connected with partners at AVE living, Legacy Residential Group, Updater, and CORT about what food recovery looks like inside the multifamily space. We listened to forward-thinking speakers from Greystar, Nurture Boss, and Kurie challenge the room to think bigger.

And together, the room raised over $2,000. That's enough to provide 8,000 meals to families facing food insecurity.

To every person who stopped by, asked questions, donated, or simply said "tell me more" β€” thank you. You reminded us that this mission grows one relationship at a time. We can't wait to learn and grow together again next year. πŸ™

Heading to AIM 2026 at the end of the month?

Stop by the Cove Room and pack a snack kit with Move For Hunger! It only takes a few minutes, but each kit makes a real difference for families facing food insecurity.

This is our 2nd annual snack kit packing activation at AIM Conference, and if last year's results are any indication (pictured below πŸ‘‡), this one's going to be special.
Check out the recap from last year's event here: https://moveforhunger.org/blog/inside-move-for-hungers-meal-kit-packing-event-at-aim-2025

We're grateful to our partners at CORT, Digible, Updater , and the Apartment Innovation and Marketing Conference team for helping make this activation possible. When the multifamily industry comes together, the impact goes far beyond the conference floor.

Can't make it in person? You can still help us provide meals to families who need them most:

Big news from right here in New Jersey πŸ’™

We've been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Amboy Foundation to support the behind-the-scenes work that makes food rescue possible: the transportation, coordination, and logistics that get donated food to local food banks serving our neighbors.

Grants like this help us deliver more food, more reliably, to communities across the state when resources are stretched and demand is high.

Thank you to Amboy Bank and Christian Kroyer for investing in this mission. πŸ™

Because of you, food that would have gone to waste fed millions of families instead. πŸ’™

In Q1 of 2026, our network delivered 6 million pounds of food to food banks across the country, the equivalent of 5 million meals.
That's THREE TIMES what we delivered in Q1 of last year!

Impact like that doesn't happen on their own. It happens because families set aside food during a move, because property teams hosted food drives, because logistics partners said yes to one more load. Donors, runners, volunteers, and movers chose to act, and their generosity spread far and wide.

From our Spread the Love peanut butter drives to rescuing 1,300+ pounds of food from the LA Marathon finish line to being on the ground at Manifest 2026, this quarter proved something we already knew: this network shows up.

We wrote it all down. Read our full Q1 recap and see what this community made possible
