VM 10/31/2026

Five of us got to the pond expecting nine MPH with gusts to fifteen but what we got was some of the spottiest wind all season. If you missed the little pocket of wind (and I use the term loosely ), you could be sitting in dead air as the lucky ones rounded the next mark. One of the day's highlights was Dave Brimblecom launching his beautiful cat boat for a bit of water time. Don't forget next Saturday's end of season Footy race with a 11AM start time.

Let's do this VMs at Noon. This is our last regular-season race for the year. Next Saturday we wrap up with Footys.

Although four intrepid skippers showed up, the event was cancelled due to absolutely no wind except one gust of about 3 knots lasting about twelve seconds during the more than two hours we hung around.! Also be advised that the Crazy Old Man Of The Mountain Footy Regatta (Makeup) has been rescheduled for 11/7/2026 @ 11AM.

We hit the water at 12 pm for a few rounds with the EC-12s. We will be short Cliff and Herb, so it may be a good test-and-tune day.

When you sail in strong winds something always gets messed up. It was my Star 45 last week. My arrow shaft winch didn't fair well on its first time out. So I am going to an arm setup for the easier fixing.

An interesting weather day. Forecast said mid 40's and winds 15 with gusts to 30. Well...it was cold but the wind wasn't that strong. What it was was continuously shifting and VERY spotty. Boats no more than a few feet apart were regularly in different weather... one with sails full and heeled over and the other just sitting with slack sails or on the opposite tack....

It was a very shifty, but beautiful day today. The wind was unable to make its mind up as to how strong to blow or from what direction. Greg drove up from RI to sail today and took the top spot, with Cliff hot on his heels just a point back.
