Such a powerful three-day summit, with more than 50 countries represented and nearly 100 delegate perspectives around one shared conviction:

**Religious freedom matters—and protecting it requires people willing to lead, serve, and work together.**

RFAC leadership was grateful to participate and serve alongside distinguished global leaders at the 33rd Annual International Law and Religion Symposium, hosted by BYU’s International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLRS).

A highlight was bringing delegates to Salt Lake City’s new LDS Humanitarian Center, where leaders from around the world rolled up their sleeves to prepare hygiene kits for people in need.

Grateful for the friendships forged, the shared purpose, and the work ahead.

Idaho recently hosted its first Religious Freedom Summit at the State Capitol, bringing together religious, legal, and community leaders to talk about protecting religious liberty while living alongside people with different beliefs.

When we understand each other better, we can build communities where people of different faiths—and people of no faith—can live their beliefs freely and contribute to the common good.

As KTVB reported:

“The summit focused on how Idahoans can protect religious freedom while also respecting the rights and beliefs of others.”

That’s at the heart of what the Religious Freedom Alliance Council is working to build—grassroots conversations, one by one, across the nation.

We’re grateful to everyone who made this first Idaho summit possible and excited to see where these conversations go next.

Our RFAC Founder, Bill Benac, spoke this week at the International Religious Freedom Roundtable, put on by the International Religious Freedom Secretariat —a large annual gathering dedicated to advancing religious freedom in Washington, DC.

Bill shared the vision behind the Religious Freedom Alliance Council: lasting change begins at the grassroots level. It happens one community, one alliance, one forum, and one summit at a time.

The mission of RFAC is to help transform the culture of our nation by empowering local communities to unite around the fundamental human right of religious freedom.

Standing beside Bill through so many of his efforts nationwide, his wife remarked- “This man is wearing himself out in the cause of promoting the human right to choose how to worship (or not), and the right to exert one’s personal beliefs unhindered by prejudice or persecution. Religious freedom and human dignity are not just for people with whom you agree. They are the birthright of all.”

We echo her words! Thank you, Bill, for championing religious freedom and bringing communities together across the nation!

During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress declared a Continental Day of Fasting and Prayer in 1775 and continued to do so each year during the war.
Following the example of our forefathers during times of conflict, President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, together with his counselors, has invited people of all faiths to fast on July 5, the day after Independence Day.
What a meaningful opportunity to seek greater unity at a time when our nation often feels divided by politics and religion. As we come together in faith—as “one nation under God”—we can pray for healing, peace, wisdom, and strength for our families, our communities, and our country.
As we unite this Sunday, may we continue to see miracles and blessings in this wonderful land of the free and the home of the brave. 🇺🇸🙏

~Judge Curtis Collier, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Tennessee. On May 20, 2026, the Chattanooga Faith Forum convened around 100 people to engage with speakers and panelists from local Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities. Throughout the panels and forum celebrating the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, a common theme emerged: authentic faith is meaningful only when it is freely chosen, not imposed.

Speakers included US District Court Judge Curtis Collier, State Rep. Greg Martin, Mayor of Hamilton County Weston Wamp, Director of the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network Micah Fries, and Area Seventy Elder Steven Bodhaine. Local media covered the event!

Join us for a powerful Roundtable Discussion on the Importance of Religious Freedom.

On April 18 from 10–11 AM, Gene Schaerr and other religious freedom experts will gather in St. Mary’s City to visit the site where America’s first religious freedom law—the 1649 Maryland Toleration Act—was created. They will review the history of the law and discuss how religious liberty continues to shape and protect faith communities today and beyond.

Afterward, join us for a “Free Exercise Walk” around historic St. Mary’s City—Maryland’s first capital (1634)—and step into early America. This unique experience offers a chance to learn, connect, and better understand why religious freedom matters for everyone. The tour is $18 per person.
