The weekend has arrived, and there’s something wonderful about a Saturday morning on the Grand Strand! 🌴

A fresh cup of coffee, a little sunshine, the sound of the ocean, and another opportunity to make someone’s day a little brighter. ☕💕

🌿 UNITY IN ACTION TODAY!

Our wonderful Unity Community volunteers are heading out today to help Kristen Harton with much-needed yardwork, brush trimming, and outdoor cleanup!

It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes the greatest gifts don’t come wrapped in packages. They come in the form of helping hands, generous hearts, and neighbors who simply care enough to show up. ❤️

🎷 LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO THIS WEEKEND?

The Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival continues today at its new location, 2501 North Kings Highway, with Saturday’s performances beginning at 2 p.m. Enjoy some great music and support our local community!

🌊 A LITTLE COASTAL CAUTION: A Gale Warning begins at noon today for our coastal waters. If you’re planning to go boating, please check conditions and stay safe.

🌸 OUR SATURDAY THOUGHT:

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Sometimes the smallest moments bring the greatest joy.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at Unity, and we’re excited to share a few of the ways our community is coming together to help one another!

🌿 SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17 — KRISTEN’S YARD CLEANUP PROJECT

Tomorrow, our wonderful volunteers will be heading out to help Kristen with much-needed yardwork, brush trimming, and outdoor cleanup.

Sometimes something as simple as getting a yard back in shape can make an enormous difference for someone facing difficult circumstances. We’re so grateful to everyone stepping forward to lend a hand! 💚

🏡 TODAY — HELPING ONE OF OUR ELDERS IN SOCASTEE

A special thank-you to Patrick Parcher from Coastal Edge Home Services, who will be visiting our elder Kathy today to assess maintenance and upkeep needs around her home.

Helping our seniors remain comfortable and safe in their homes is an important part of what Unity is all about. Thank you, Patrick, for sharing your time and expertise! ❤️

📦🚚 SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14 — OPERATION: MOVE MISS ANNE!

We’re also preparing to help Miss Anne move into her new home!

We’ll need volunteers willing to help with packing, lifting, loading, unloading, and transportation. Anyone with a pickup truck or trailer would be especially appreciated!

🚨 MYRTLE BEACH COMMUNITY ALERT — MAJOR FESTIVAL LOCATION CHANGE
Friday, October 16, 2026 | 11:16 AM

The 10th annual Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival begins today, October 16, and continues through Sunday, October 18, at a different location than some event calendars advertise.

Confirmed 2026 location: 2501 North Kings Highway, the former Myrtle Square Mall property, across from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

⚠️ Important for residents and visitors: Some event listings still incorrectly direct attendees to Carver Street. The festival’s official website confirms the North Kings Highway location.

Approximately 17,000 people attended in 2025, so increased traffic and parking demand are possible around North Kings Highway and the Convention Center throughout the weekend. No festival-related road closures have been confirmed.

Friday’s performances begin at 4:00 PM.

Today, United Way of Horry County celebrates its annual Day of Caring, bringing together more than 300 volunteers to support organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Sea Haven for Youth, and Waccamaw Youth Center!

Now THAT is what community is all about! 👏❤️

At Unity Community Myrtle Beach, we believe that kindness isn’t measured by how much money you have or how much time you can give. Sometimes it’s a helping hand, a friendly phone call, a ride when someone needs one, or simply reminding another person that they matter.

🌸 OUR FRIDAY THOUGHT:

You may not be able to change the whole world today, but you can change someone’s experience of it.

A little compassion can turn someone’s difficult day into one filled with hope.

So as we head into the weekend, look around. Check on a neighbor. Smile at a stranger. Reach out to someone you haven’t heard from lately.

Because the strongest communities aren’t built by buildings or businesses alone. They’re built by people who care about one another. ❤️

The Horry County Police Department has confirmed that a welfare check escalated into an officer-involved shooting.

The report was published at 4:59 PM today. Details remain limited, including the precise location, injuries, and whether any continuing public safety threat exists. No related road closures have been confirmed.

Residents should avoid any active police scene and follow official instructions.

📦🚚 OPERATION: MOVE MISS ANNE! 🚚📦

🎉 SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2026!

Calling all Unity Community volunteers, strong arms, pickup truck owners, and anyone with a little time and a BIG HEART! 💪❤️

We’re getting ready to help Miss Anne, a wonderful retired educator, move from her four-bedroom, two-story home into a smaller, two-bedroom home with NO STAIRS! 🎉

And believe me, those stairs are exactly why we’re going to need some muscle! 😂

❤️ HERE’S WHAT WE NEED:

💪 Several strong volunteers, especially gentlemen who can help carry furniture and heavier items downstairs!

🛻 At least TWO pickup trucks to help transport belongings!

📦 Volunteers to help pack, organize, load, and unload!

💕 And plenty of helping hands to make this move as smooth and enjoyable as possible!

🎓 ATTENTION, FORMER STUDENTS!

If Miss Anne ever taught you, here’s your chance to earn a little EXTRA CREDIT! 😂❤️
