Met a man today outside the grocery store and my inner city antenna automatically went up. I thought to myself no judgement because I don’t have the power to judge, so I asked did he need anything. My observation skills are on overload as usual so I’m processing and assessing on the fly. I noticed he all of his belongings in a shopping cart and seem to be struggling. I offered him some assistance and to my surprise all he needed was a friend. I gave him my number and name. This encounter gave me an appreciation for what it means to struggle, survive, be humbled and blessed all in a matter of seconds. Made me take a second look at myself as a man, father, lover, mentor, mentee, educator, community leader, coach and overall human being. GOD puts people in your space for a reason. Hopefully I can help him in some way.
