For NOHS participants from the AKC--
The American Kennel Club is pleased to share an exciting update regarding the National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS) program. Effective May 20, 2026, owners of dogs that have earned NOHS Levels of Achievement certificates will have the option to add these accomplishments as an official suffix title to their dog’s AKC record. This title will be reflected on all future AKC pedigrees and registration certificates. Owners may apply for the title at any achievement level (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum), and titles will be grandfathered back to the inception of the NOHS program.
Owners can apply through AKC Title Application Portal (TAP) using their dog’s AKC registration number.

The MABC of MD had another successful scent work trial on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd in at the Gloucester County 4-H Fairgrounds in Mullica Hill, NJ. (And yes, you read that right, a THREE DAY scentwork trial)

We would like to thank our amazing judges Terri Eyer, Michele Gray and Bill Gaskins. Thank you for agreeing to come back this year to judge for us, for your guidance and your fun searches. It was OUR pleasure!

Huge shout out to our trial secretaries Chrisy and Lisa!!! You make it so much easier for us!!!

Huge shout out to our absolute ARMY of volunteers, some new but many come back year after year to help us put on such a successful event. These types of events can not be pulled off without you, your time commitment, your enthusiasm and your hard work. We can't even begin to express how grateful we are. We had volunteers from NJ, PA, NY, MA and CT, ranging in age from 11 to 75+.

We also had the pleasure of handing out lots of Q ribbons, element and overall title rosettes, including our very first DETECTIVE title and badge to an exhibitor. We also had the pleasure of handing out Junior Handler ribbons for our Junior exhibitor. We love it when our exhibitors have fun and are successful! See you next year, Gloucester County Fairgrounds (or maybe sooner, if we ever recover from this one 👀)

Mid Atlantic Basenji Club of Maryland annual spring walk in Lambertville, NJ on April 25, 2026. Leisurely walk along the canal on the NJ to Lambertville. This is the weekend of Shad Fest-so lots and lots of booths set up for shopping/food. We stop at Starbucks for refreshments, then stroll through the Shad Fest celebration. Everyone is welcome - you don't have to be a MABC of MD member. Meet at 10:30 in the parking lot behind the Holcombe Jimison Farmstead. (1605 Daniel Bray Hwy., Lambertville, NJ 08530) AKC Fit Dog Walk, CGC, CGCU and CGCA offered.
