📥️CSE 2027 Board of Directors Election

In 2026, the CSE membership will elect one Vice President, one Secretary, and one Director to take office in 2027. The CSE Board of Directors is responsible for steering the organization forward in a manner that reflects the interests of the membership. Board members provide leadership, a shared vision, a sense of mission, and are responsible for the fiscal health of CSE.

The Nominating Committee seeks candidates who are dedicated to the future of CSE and possess the following leadership skills and attributes:

🔸Master communicators who ask great questions and cultivate thought-provoking conversations that reveal the ideas that will inspire the organization's progress.
🔸Determined problem solvers who see challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities.
🔸Passionate advocates with a deep-seated commitment to CSE's mission and whose enthusiasm can enliven and motivate their colleagues.
🔸Change agents who provide the stability CSE needs to operate, while serving as a catalyst for transformational change.

📣 CSE 2027 Annual Meeting: Call for Proposals

CSE community, get excited for our next annual meeting! As we begin preparations, the Program Committee is pleased to welcome session proposals for the 2027 CSE Annual Meeting. We invite everyone with an idea to submit a proposal.

Sessions should aim to serve those in the scientific publishing and information science communities. Each session should fit within at least one of the following broad categories: Editorial; Production; Business Operations and Management; Career Development and Mentorship; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA); Scholarly Publishing Industry; Ethics; Policy; Leadership; or Other.

CSE is interested in topics that are timely, practical, and relevant to the membership, and interactive sessions are strongly encouraged.

Misinformation can spread faster than evidence. Editors and publishers must do more than ensure rigor; they must also explain why peer review, corrections, and editorial judgment matter to society.

This session will focus on practical strategies for communicating the value of science and peer review to non‑expert audiences, including storytelling, transparency, and collaboration with media and public‑facing institutions. Speakers will discuss recent policy changes and discourse within the scientific community about peer review and its essential role in research and publishing.

This session will also discuss the need for reframing the narrative surrounding retractions and corrections to dismantle the stigma attached to these essential practices. Speakers will provide attendees with practical advice they can implement at their journals to help reaffirm trust in journals and advocate for coordination with the media to prevent outdated or incorrect data from circulating in the public.

This session explores how publishers, funders, researchers, societies, and institutions can share accountability for research integrity by reshaping policies, education, and signals of success. Topics will include transparency, metrics, and educational approaches that reward quality, rigor, and ethical conduct rather than publication volume alone.

This session will explore how journals and publishers can design research outputs that extend beyond the static article (such as multimedia, data‑driven, and machine‑readable formats) while ensuring that provenance, citations, and trust signals reliably point users back to authoritative, peer‑reviewed sources. It will examine why citation is no longer just an academic convention, but a critical mechanism for helping researchers assess credibility when content is surfaced out of context by AI systems.

The discussion will also consider how editorial and production workflows must evolve to support citability, versioning, and long‑term stewardship across emerging formats.
