July CSE Connect πŸ’» Interview Tips for the Interviewer

Interviewing can be nerve-wracking. When you are trying to fill a role, it can be hard to know what is worth asking candidates. What is important to ask for in the application process to help find the best person for the role? What's the best way to determine if someone will be a fit in scholarly publishing? In this Connect, we will ask some interviewing experts for all the tips and tricks to make every interview worthwhile.

Participants can submit questions ahead a time: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1sqpQ11D2AyDyOh4uzCGrXHSc0MBbfa2hMcbMjzYR-Dc/viewform?edit_requested=true . There will be time at the end to ask any questions that may come up during the discussion.

Mutual Growth Through CSE’s Mentorship Program

CSE’s Mentorship Program connects members across career stages to learn, grow, and support one another. Over the course of a year, mentors and mentees build meaningful one-to-one relationships shaped by shared goals, regular conversations, and real-world editorial experience. In her Science Editor article, mentorship champion and previous Mentorship Committee Chair Patty Baskin shows how the CSE Mentorship Program supports mentees with guidance and perspective while giving mentors the opportunity to share expertise and gain fresh insights, a true win-win for professional growth.

β˜€οΈ CSE & EASE Summer Symposium Event
Beyond Borders: Growing Journal Influence and Impact Worldwide

The 2026 EASE Summer Symposium, Influence & Impact, centers on how editorial teams define quality and measure the real-world reception of research. However, β€œimpact” is never a static target – it is deeply tied to where research is born and where it is read. Building on this theme, this joint CSE/EASE panel examines one of the most consequential routes to long-term sustainability: intentional internationalization.

Moving a journal beyond its home region is a significant strategic lever, yet it is often hampered by misunderstood cultural norms, language barriers, and shifting geopolitical landscapes. This session brings together global perspectives to move beyond the theory of β€œgoing global” and focus on the specific levers editorial teams can pull to earn trust in new markets.
