Woman to woman; women for women, step by step, together. Like many women right now, who had so much hope for the first female president, who are now feeling helpless and still in shock, I have been thinking about what I could to make a difference. After turning another year wiser on January 12th, and looking around at my friends, I was reminded of the power that a small group of people can harness
. I am launching this organization today because I believe that we women need to work in small groups to make a difference. There are big causes that need foot soldiers and we need to organize and build the capacity from the ground up. Here in Silicon Valley there are women who, like Hillary Clinton, have been smeared and professionally beaten down because they are women. There are female entrepreneurs and thought leaders, with emotional, technical, and financial intelligence whose capital is not being tapped, viewed as "too risky." Here's my idea: What if we were to find a way to connect women to other woman. One woman at a time. The idea is to bridge the gap between race, class, and all the divisions that keep women from coming together to pool their resources. A girl who want to code in East Palo has the same aspirations as a girl at a private girls school in the Hills. Miles apart, their lives will likely take different paths. Within the same neighborhood, one woman's entrepreneurial vision takes off because her husband is able to build an MVP. The single mother around the corner is left with unfinished designs. These are the barriers that we women face in achieving our dreams and the idea here is that if we connect each other and share our intellectual and social capital -- our connections -- we might start to activate so many of the potential that lies dormant, not just here in Silicon Valley, but across California, across the US, around the world. There are powerful women in powerful places who I am certain would like nothing more than to see other women succeed and climb the ladder. If one woman is able to shatter a glass on the way up, let's try and help our sisters from getting hurt as they, too, follow in that path. I'm not sure where this will lead but we have to start somewhere. The best way to start is by simply liking the idea, and hopefully this woman's hope will become another woman's and then become four, and then 8, and then 16, and so on. No cash or donation required. Just your validation and support.
