Bluey was introduced to paw pads at our last club meeting. Paw pads are used to help keep a puppy focused around distractions by having a designated spot to park their paws. Bluey caught on super fast and is already a pro! Note: paw pads are usually done without leash but Bluey is leashed due to an open door being open to the outside.

Arletta made her way downtown today, encountered lots of dogs, visit s a couple new shops, and met some nice people. Even ran into her co-raiser at the farmers market completely at random.

As temperatures rise and we spend more time outdoors near beaches, pools, and sprinklers, here are some things to keep in mind to keep your dog happy and safe:

1. Introduce dogs to pools gradually. Never leave dogs unsupervised around water.
2. Drinking too much seawater can cause vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and dangerous electrolyte imbalances. Always bring fresh drinking water.
3. Dogs can get water contamination if they drink too much water too fast. This can happen during games of fetch, biting sprinklers, or continuous swimming.
4. Keep dogs away from stagnant water, especially ones with algae bloom. Swimming, drinking, or even licking algae from fur can produce toxins that affect the liver and nervous system, and these toxins can become life-threatening very quickly.

Happy first birthday to sweet Verity!
The club celebrated her yesterday with a barbecue at her raiser’s home. She was pretty happy to play with all her friends!
