National Guide Dog Month is coming up in September! This is a time to celebrate the extraordinary partnerships between guide dogs and their partners who rely on them for increased mobility, greater independence, and confidence in travel.

Guide Dogs for the Blind - Mount Vernon Puppy Raisers is proud to announce that LONA has graduated as a guide from Guide Dogs for the Blind! Lona was raised in our club by Melinda (Chris) Regenfuss and Anna McKenna & family. After returning to campus for formal guide dog training, Lona went through rigorous training and guide work assessment with professional guide dog mobility instructors and has been matched with her handler.
 
As a guide dog, Lona will work with her new partner, Beth, to navigate the complexities of pedestrian travel in their new home environment (Colorado). She will also live as a beloved member of her new family while doing the work that she was born to do.

Verity had a busy weekend with her sitter including a trip to see the Aquasox play baseball and a meet & greet with our new PFM, Margaret. This included puppies from several clubs.

Our little Bark Rangers, Bluey and Verity (plus raisers, club members and families), had a great time at Oregon Fun Day 2026. They explored the National Barks, got photos with their parents, met some fun characters, met their littermates, took naps (mostly Bluey), helped promote leash stamping for the club, and wrapped it up watching other clubs receive some very cute puppies to raise.

Take two.
Arletta was also recently career changed due to extreme car anxiety. Interestingly enough, the bus was not a concern…just cars. We are happy that she has been placed by one of her raisers and will be staying in town. Arletta was very much a club dog. Started by Jenna and Chandler, then transferred to Heather, Darin & Tina. All put their hearts and souls into this sweet and sensitive girl. Thank you for loving her!
