📚✨ CELEBRATING OUR STUDENTS’ SUCCESS! ✨📚

Over the past few weeks, the Welcome Home Center has been blessed to welcome several Van Allen Elementary students participating in our Summer Reading and Math Support Program.

Through a partnership with Van Allen School, students can visit our office between June 1 and July 23 to complete their Language & Literacy, Math, and educational enrichment activities while receiving extra encouragement and support.

Watching these young learners grow has been one of the greatest joys of our summer. Every day, they arrive ready to learn, work hard, and challenge themselves. We even have a friendly competition going to see who can earn the most points by completing their lessons! 😊

This week, we celebrated our first student achievement awards. The smiles, excitement, and pride on their faces were priceless. These children are proving that with encouragement, opportunity, and a little extra support, amazing things can happen.

❤️ We would like to extend a special thank you to the IowaWINS Board of Directors for generously donating the computers that make this program possible. Their investment continues to open doors and create opportunities for local children.

🎉 We are also grateful to everyone who attended and supported our TapestryFest events. The funds raised helped provide student incentives, prizes, and special lunches to celebrate our participants’ hard work and dedication. (And all of our youth programs at the WHC).

These photos are a reminder that education changes lives. Behind every completed lesson is a child gaining confidence, a family cheering them on, and a community coming together to support their success.

At the Welcome Home Center, we believe it truly takes a village to raise a child. Every volunteer, donor, supporter, and community partner plays an important role in helping our children reach their full potential.

To all of our families: thank you for trusting us with your children. We want you to know that you are valued, appreciated, and loved. While we may not always have immediate answers to every challenge, we remain committed to walking alongside you, connecting you with resources, and supporting your family’s journey.

Together, we are building something special - a welcoming community that cares for one another and a place where everyone belongs to.

Summer Adult ESL Conversation Partners.

We are looking for native English speakers neighbors to help our Adult Basic and Intermediate-level ESL students practice conversational English.

No lesson planning or teaching experience is needed.
Simply engaging in friendly conversation helps our students build confidence and improve their communication skills.

Sessions can be 30 or 60 minutes. Our current need is on weekdays beginning at 2:30 PM trough 6 PM.
