Councilmember Daniel Brownstein kicked off the ensuing discussion by reporting that he along with Councilmember John Iacofano and Councilmember Mike Tinkey recently met with representatives from the YMCA of Coastal Carolina and YMCA of Greater Charleston.
While talks were preliminary in nature, the YMCA contingent felt that the property location would be ideal due to its surrounding senior facilities and overall neighborhood composition.
"The thought is that we've heard from folks who want a second senior center in the past; we've heard from folks who think that they need better aquatic facilities, and so this may be a way to achieve some of those objectives," offered Brownstein.
