Here's one to keep an eye out for this spring and summer! Spotted Lanternfly goes through four life stages before taking on its distinct adult form. After hatching in the spring, the spotted lanternfly grows in size through the first three instars of its life cycle, eventually gains its characteristic red color during the forth instar before finally taking on its well known adult form.
As egg masses start to hatch this spring, keep an eye out for those first four instars! And as always, SEE IT, SQUISH IT, REPORT IT!

Garlic Mustard is at its peak, get it before it goes to seed! As the weather starts to warm and we start to approach summer, the garlic mustard seed pods, called "siliques", mature, swell up, and eventually dry out and burst scattering 100s of seeds which will become first year rosettes the next spring. Prevent the spread of garlic mustard by pulling before the siliques mature!

If you happened to miss our recent news story, we have been working on a really great project in Romeo, working in partnership with Green Space Romeo and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Romeo. Just last weekend, we held a Goat Meet & Greet to showcase the invasive species work being done!

If you missed the event and wanted to learn more about the project and the use of goats for invasive species management, check out our interview with WDIV!

A local nonprofit is using some unusual help to clean up a wooded area in Romeo -- goats.
