Saturday, March 24th the Police and Community Committee of Macomb ACT sponsored the Be the Change Turnabout Program for the Macomb Community College and High School Seniors and Juniors. The day long event was held at the Macomb Emergency Training Service Center. More than 50 participants went through a series of scenarios where they were the police and the police took on the role as the community members. In addition instructors from the Macomb Community College Police Academy staff guided participants through many of the scenarios. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, Judge Kenneth King of the Detroit 36 District Court offered opening remarks to start this exhilarating experience.

As Black History Month comes to a close, we would like to recognize Selfridge Air National Guard Base for celebrating Black History Month by renaming a street on the base in honor and recognition of the first African-American fighter pilots, the Tuskegee Airmen.
