In the past few weeks, you’ve met five of the six chimpanzees who recently arrived at Project Chimps. Today, we’re overjoyed to finally introduce the last chimp in this remarkable group, Tweetybird!
Tweetybird is the oldest chimp in this transport group by a few months and will turn 27 this December. He’s been called the “brains behind the operation” and is one of the higher-ranking members of his transport group alongside Twirp.
True to his namesake, Tweetybird’s caregivers describe him as “petite” and a good nester.
According to his caregivers, Tweetybird loves carrying something around with him at all times. These can be many things, including sticks, toys, or banana peels. However, so far his favorite thing to carry seems to be a single piece of straw in his lips, like a farmer!
As unique as these six chimpanzees are, they have one thing in common: because of caring supporters like you, they're now able to experience life on their own terms.
Just a few weeks ago, these chimps were living in a research facility. Today, they're settling into sanctuary, meeting their caregivers, exploring their surroundings, and beginning a journey that will continue to unfold over the months and years ahead.
