As school starts for our children, we want to send a HUGE thank you to countless individuals, organizations, and businesses that helped to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to 290 children (139 families) and new shoes to 274 children (128 families). And of course, all the wonderful volunteers that helped the children fill their backpacks with school supplies and provide assistance for the shoe event in order to give these children a successful start to the school year. You are the BEST!!

An update from one of our volunteers:

Last weekend, we received donations from multiple donors (THANK YOU!!), including 2 food drives by the Moorpark Presbyterian Church and St. Jude's Catholic Church. Add to that, those of you donating from the wish list.

Quick note on the Amazon wish list - if you are concerned about delivery, all purchases are being delivered to a location that can accept packages at all hours because there's a risk of your donations being left and taken if delivered directly to the Pantry after hours.

Every year, our Pantry provides backpacks and school supplies to around 300 Moorpark students. If you are willing, please consider a school supply drive at your business or take a look at the Amazon wish list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/QS6GAILTREVN?ref_=wl_share

Happy Mother’s Day to you and yours! This year we celebrated with 110 wonderful moms who were treated to jewelry, purses, perfume, clothes, socks, cosmetic bags, and a special dessert. And 39 of our moms even won a raffle prize! Many thanks to the staff, our volunteers, everyone who donated some amazing gifts, and Carla's Bakery for the yummy cake. You all helped to make this a special day for some very deserving clients.

Thank you just doesn't seem like enough, but we are so grateful to Patricia Calderon for over 28 years of service to the Pantry and to the community of Moorpark at large.

Patricia was central to all the good works that the Pantry performed during that time. She worked diligently with Ruben Castro and then stepped into leadership when he left. Patricia's vision was always focused on how to do the most good for the most people. She treated everyone with dignity: clients, volunteers, community members, etc. She exemplified servant leadership for all of us. Her legacy will live on through the thousands of children who got to pick out new shoes every year to start the school year and the families that were so grateful for Christmas gifts for their children and food for their tables. But mostly, EVERYONE is grateful for Patricia's servant heart! It was her values that were mirrored in the volunteers and in turn shared with the clients. There will never be anyone like you, Patricia!

The volunteers and the community extend our gratitude many times over and wish you peace and joy on the new beginnings that lie ahead.
